Good topic, I remember just yesterday, passed picking up a penny, not sure why, I normally do. Sometimes it is better than a penny ! There are alot of time when ( sidewalk hunting ) is better than the woods, lol.

Heck, you should see the gravel curb strip in front of my place, I toss all the zincolns I get in change out there for any kids to pick up.

I pass up all coins in front of the counters at fast food places.
That floor is likely no cleaner than the floor of the men's room and we all know what they look like.

I dig all penny signals, but won't pick one up if I see it on the floor of a store! My logic is a penny signal could be an IHC or wheatie, but that coin of the floor is most likely a dreaded zinc penny. Not worth the effort!

My rule is the dropped coin has to be at least a nickel for me to even consider picking it up!
