found this today behind an old church (few hundred years old). no idea what it is but it looks like the shape of a lock or a belt buckle. it is rather heavy too. i hope its not just a scrape piece of some kind of machinery cant wait to hear your ideas! thanks!!!

It looks like a pad that is bolted on to heavy equipment that is used when lifting. That would be my guess.

I'd have to agree, either that or a tow hook from an older piece of heavy machinery/car/tractor.
