Hi All,
I had a smashing hunt over the weekend: 1892 Barber quarter, ornate suspender clip, modern Schrade pocket knife, and... THIS RING! The site is a Gold Rush era town's historic picnic site that was used in the 1800s through who knows when (other than very modern drops from the local homeless/kids, all of the coins I've pulled out of here have been Seateds, Barbers, V-Nickels, and maybe a wheatie from the 20s). I believe it's silver, but there is no hallmark (TID was about the same as the quarter, though).
The eagle on this ring evokes images, to me, of 1800s presidential campaigns, but I can't find any similar eagles online. Could it be somehow commemorative of the Civil War, or some other US conflict or event?
Thank you for any thoughts on this!
