Fisher Impulse AQ Limited Launch!

Thanks for asking...... All is good, I'm back to hunting (with both the "AQ" n Excal)... and doing a few mods on the "AQ" ..Done with the testing.....And Earl "my" Excalibur's are deeper then the DF on the beach's there.......Not sure on the other questions, with the virus thing I would imagine things are going to get worse unfortunately.

Your Russian Girl friend needs to let you out more buddy...;)

Battery I'm building for the "AQ" should get about 10 hours..

18650s? Same setup as the old TDI PRO. There is heat. Whites stopped making these due to delivery problems among other problems.

All is for me, Not Fisher or anyone else. So I will let you know how it goes and share how all was made if asked. These are in there own container. Not the control head... ..Also have another design. 26650's "drop in's" I'm working on..
Not for sale...

Joe, I would recommend bringing a separate wire from each lithium can to the port for charging and balancing ...

Thanks buddy There is a BMS that will go in the mix to balance n charge the batteries, still have to finish off. Its the small little pcb next to the batteries.

Thanks Joe

For your strive, honest opinions, I'm happy to have two past OBN moded Excalibur Blues , I don't like this heat & humidity , everything including the boat is not getting used , I found a good diet that works , I had trouble getting below a Plato , weight , in 8 days - dropped 10 lbs under that Plato , most importantly I have learned how to eat , what to eat, when to eat , portion size , retrained on how to stay at that ideal weight , which is an issue with alot , once they loose it, they gain it back, I will keep on till I reach 10% body fat only , I found its not hunting, fishing, doing everyday things , lack of energy & motivation all comes down to the weight I carry , so while this covid won't leave , bunker ed down buddy, it's all good Joe , everything one day will fall in place , one day , all the toys in the world isn't squat if you don't use them , take care buddy , wish you lots of gold in 2020 , stay hydrated , Earl. PS you shouldn't show all your mod secrets buddy , I'm sure Fisher would love that knowledge to get a real battery pack to run that juice sucking ,non deep- on the beach pi machine .

What is the black strip with the loops on it?

They go to the solder pads B-1..B-2 ..B-3 (On the battery module) then I still have two more to put on for the Neg and Pos solder pads...then 2 more (Pos/Neg) that goes from the BMS to the 4 pin M-8 female that the battery cable Connects to..I think..I have to double check all as I go since this is my first time on this setup.

Going to make a couple of these so the first is always the slowest for me.

For future post from others...
I'm making no claims of being a battery engineer, or being the Go to PI guy...:quote:

really like that setup. Anyway to get the batteries inside the shaft? It would make it more hydrodynamic. Man would I have fun playing with that setup.

Steve down the road yes, after the warranty for sure. Just like making the battery drop in 26650 pack but part of the rear of the shaft. I worked with fiber glass many years ago ...so would be making it out of carbon fiber..Rear CF would be 32mm OD 29 ID.....only two wires, 2 leads each come from the handle so everything needed is right there.

1...Photoshop model I worked up..
None of this is for Fisher.... just me and my imagination..
2.. pic shows the 2 wires that instead of coming out of the rear, ...........on the new design would go right into the drop in battery compartment up front ..like the drop in battery pack, only thing coming from the rear would be the M-12 8 pin fitting..

No, the photo before that. Looks to be tied to the + terminal of the end plug.

What looks totally doable is the sliding arm cuff feature. Hypothetically , if that can be done so the battery pack would slide behind the elbow , that may eliminate any balance issues. Could be the dream design for this thing. So many issues I read about counter balance issues and injuries , or not being able to hunt very long. Of course the battery duration is top priority. Good job OBN.

Ps. Why is it that most manufacturers don't make an ultra thin , light coil ? They are all thick...

Some kind of plastic sleeve would be appropriate as carbon fiber is electrically conductive and I have seen fires start from batteries in proximity with it.

Obn

Knows what he's doing, like he said, it's for himself , Noone else or Fisher , let him work his magic , as he has helped everyone that I know , the best he can , keep up the good work, enjoy yourself out hunting Joe , go get some gold .:kingdances::kingdances::kingdances:

You're imagination is brilliant! :dingding:

My bad, that is to pull that piece out when I change the batteries..The batteries go in, then that piece,.... then the wires tuck in..... then the main cap. So in reverse once the main endcap is pulled I will pull that cord to pull out that piece. And not put stress on the red wire..

Good to know, Thank You. I'll make the battery like I am doing now and get the carbon fiber big enough to put the plastic sleeve in to insulate the batteries.

KOB, the absolute easiest coil I have to swing in the water is on my old Tesoro sand shark. That thing glides. I have been asking myself the same for years, or at least make it have a hydro foil type design that reduces drag.

Good to know. I'm thinking in general , not just for the water. I know it has to be stable enough for bouncing off things. But why so thick ? There has got to be a better housing material to wrap around a few small wires. I don't get it.

KOB it's sad but true.., We are hunters and they are electronic engineers. We know what works when hunting and they see a coil as a traditional design that works.."IN there minds", but have no clue about what we go thru swinging a big disc in the water.

Imagine the products that would be put out if they could synthesize the design hunters clamor for with their engineering? OBN should be on somebody's technical development team!

I have a sneaking suspicion he already is...just hope he's getting BIG freebies and $....a true mastermind....
