SAD NEWS on Scuba UPDATE

//// Just posted by Roberts daughter on Facebook 7-26-21 ScubaDetector

Dad passed away peacefully a little after noon. Our hearts are broken deeply. As he always said "live your best life", and that, he most definitely did!! Ironically enough, today marks the 15 year anniversary that we lost our mom, his beloved wife Alison!! I have no doubt in my mind she welcomed him with the happiest of smiles and the biggest damn hug possible!! I am so thankful to have had the best father out there! The most humble, caring, compassionate, goofy, big hearted man ever!! He will be greatly missed by all!! We will be transporting our dad to Utah where he will be buried next to mom. We plan on holding a celebration of his life out here once that has taken place. His memories and infectious laugh will live on forever. Again, if you have anything to share about my dad, please send it to [email protected]. Thank you!! ❤💔❤ -

It's a very sad day. Condolences and prayers for his family. His post and exploits were always a highlight on this site.

if it's one thing we all can take from this... instead of worrying about the small petty things in life and complaining about everything... live life to the fullest extent that you can for as long as you can... Robert was a prime example. not only will his family miss him, those of us here will miss him and some that he had never met will miss him... that just speaks volumes about a man's character... Godspeed Scuba!

Scuba's liked to say " live your best life"

This is heartbreaking news, so sad to see this. I so enjoyed reading his stories about recovery after recovery after recovery. It was so apparent he love doing this hobby as much as anyone, and loved sharing his stories with everyone. He's one of those members that I always wished I had a chance to meet on one of my trips to Michigan to see him in action. My thoughts are with his family, this must be so difficult. To everyone else, please take care of yourselves and those close to you and treasure all of your moments together. And of course, live your best life.

So very sad, it is sometimes hard to find words to say at a time like this, but he will be missed, by his family, by those in his local area he helped, and on this forum !

It will be hard to read a post about water hunting without thinking of him.

You can occasionally read some of his past threads and posts and relive his adventures.

....

After one of his many "saves the day" reunion repatriation story threads, I once replied to him : "If salvation were by works, then they are saving a spot up there right next to Mother Teresa". He got a chuckle out of that :)

I had the pleasure of exchanging multiple private messages with Robert about using scuba diving, as I have recently become certified, to help locate and recover lost items for folks just as he did.

I'm so grateful for the knowledge he was able to pass on to me through these messages and I very much look forward to carrying on this tradition in his memory here on the west side of Michigan!

Thank you Robert for all you've done! -Gone but not forgotten- :neo:
