Hey all,
I assure you this isn't my first post here, it's been quite a few years though and had to sign up again, used to be on all the forums as MtPockets.
Anyways..
So on one of my Excal II's that hasn't had much use, I have the GG amphibians on it with volume control, My cable went bad, typical crumbling, so detector pro had sent me a new cable this way I can re-string em.

I've recently heard that they don't make them anymore do to failures from rusting out I believe, think OBN had mentioned that in the past. Well, I haven't had that issue just yet myself, atleast don't think so until I open them up and have a look inside.

Has anyone Diy'd a new cable of their own? I'm asking because I'd like to know if theirs a best way to separate the black covers from the base of the headphones? Like heat gun or something.. I have the pod cap drilled and wired so far..

Also, "When" they do finally fail after I replace the cable, are the GG 3030s worth the investment to completely replace them with? Along with having to also purchase the 3030 pod endcaps.

Btw! Anyone hear of a possible Excalibur upgrade in near future?

I'm not sure what you mean by the black covers, are you talking about the ear pads? Or the piezo plate? Or something else..

I think the ctx endcap with the fitting is a great investment, I think the service center in PA has them for 65 dollars? If you need the part number to make your own I can post that, very easy to make..

I use CB mic cable to replace on all sets, stock, GG or any other brands.

Upgraded xcal lll, NaDa..

MT Pockets, often wondered how you were doing. I remember you and treasure hunter were the Very first to experiment with xcal coil cable fittings.. that got my curiously up.. and going on Hot Roding the xcal.

Yes, sir talking about the removing the Piezo black plate. We're doing pretty well TY. Just getting back into the swing of things, after all the crap that's been going on covid wise and work wise.
Now, finding the time again to hit those So Fla beaches again. You know how it goes, some of em are producers and well, some are quite barren too.. but came across a few 22k's and 18's recently.

Sure that Part# would be great, appreciate it.
Those CB cables holding up well? I'm sure it's a better quality cable.
Also good to know that it's worth the investment to switch over to the 3030 setup for Excal.
