I ordered something and paid extra for 1-day shipping. It arrived about 11:00 AM on 7/28. It supposedly left Nashua, NH, on 7/29. If the status information is correct, it finally left Nashua at 1:22AM THIS MORNING. It still says it will arrive 7/29. At this point, I would like a court to mandate the word MAYBE on all postal priority/express shipping services in big red letters. Maybe even have the clerk warn customers that there is no guarantee that the times on the product names have anything to do with reality.

The shipper (and I) deserve a refund, but the USPS doesn't have the honor to do that.

The USPS lost/stole my medicare premium overpayment refund, my Dad's last gift card for my birthday, and a $200 medal celebrating the Battle of Culloden. Those three were lost/stolen from the local USPS. The package I'm complaining about now was mishandled/misrouted before my local clowns even had a chance.

I guess I can start using "Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night will stay these couriers from their appointed rounds" as my personal motto, since the USPS gave up on it long ago.

Sorry, but I just needed to vent.

UPDATE: Today, 8/2, this 1-Day Express mail package, sent 7/28, is now out for delivery. Imagine the horror if I had them ship it to me 1st class!

They seem to have gotten worse. I sent off a metal detector last Tuesday, "Priority Mail", that was supposed to only take 3 days. He didn't get it until Monday.

My package did arrive 8/2. I let the seller know that he could apply to USPS for a refund of the 1-Day Express mail postage. It is a shortwave ultraviolet flashlight and works nicely on the mineral samples I have.

Final update: The seller refunded the shipping money I had paid for 1-Day Express delivery. I hope that means he got his money back.

After all the hassle, it must have been a relief that you finally received your package... and that the ultraviolet light is working well for you! :waytogo:

The USPS does seem to have its share of issues. On the other hand, just this past Thursday, I mailed a package with an expected 5-day delivery... and it looks like it arrived within 2 days! :woot:

Thankfully our USPS does a pretty damn good job on this side of the states. I complain when they don't deliver when the roads aren't plowed, the freeway is closed and the power is out during winter storms lol. You seem to have a lot of issues with them where you're at - seen your posts before. I don't know what the difference is :?: but consider myself lucky I guess!

KT’s Royal Father in law worked for the USPO as a rural route deliverer, before he was forced to retire due to health reasons. He started in the late 1940s and used his veterans points to get hired. He would go out in any kind of weather to deliver the mail…that was their motto and his work ethic, but now it seems their motto has changed to….will do get it delivered when I feel like it. When in college KT was home from school for Christmas Holidays and was his driver, while he did the delivery in snow one day. It was tricky…on hills we just passed up the mail Boxes going uphill and made the deliveries going downhill, so we did not get stuck. I remember him saying, my supervisor will give me all the complaints from the uphill folks when I get back to the PO! He was happy to have me drive for him that day, and it still took us longer than normal. A couple of times I saw people looking out their picture windows as we drove right on by their mailboxes! Ha ha.

My former boss, who lives across the county from me in a different ZIP code, doesn't have the same problems that I do, and says he gets good and friendly service from his USPS office. I am convinced that my neighborhood, while expensive and taxed to hell and back, isn't as nice as some others in this county, and thus, we get last choice of employees. My kind-of-step-sister one ZIP over, says that her USPS office is worse than mine. We sometimes compare horror stories. I think that if management would threaten them with a transfer to SE Washington DC, they might straighten up their act.

I've had my fair share of issues with USPS, but my least favorite is hands down FedEx. Hope it all works out for ya!
When I was buying off of eBay I would tell the sellers if they shipped FedEx I would not buy.

I bought a metal detector and it was shipped FedEx. The day it was "out for delivery" I was at home all day and watched for the truck. The next day I checked the website for the status, and it said "Second attempt to deliver one more and it will be shipped back".
