Hi, I live near Richmond, VA. I’ve been MDing since early 70s. I was the White’s dealer for the Hawaiian Islands while serving in the Marines. Since then, I have been away from the sport until my PTSD approached critical mass, and I found I needed a form of therapeutic recreation that provides a calming effect and motivates me to plan a future. I’ve just completed a fantastic seminar with NSTCW in Orange, VA and found I am not alone. Although my home is circa 1793 and I have several colonial/civil war permissions, from time to time I need to take a breather and travel out of area. I will be in South Carolina near Charleston two weeks in November. I would appreciate any local knowledge as to beach or historical sites I can spend some time on. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow, prior active duty Devil Dog. I envy your opportunity to hunt in a location such as yours with all that history. Metal detecting is indeed some good exercise for both the mind and body.

Welcome from Winnsboro, South Carolina !!!!

Never been to the Charleston or SC coastline beaches myself, but other forum members that have might chime in after they see your post, I have heard that Charleston itself is very restrictive as far as metal detecting, but people can detect the coastline beaches.
