Detecting near an Old North Dakota Indian Wars Fort from the 1860's to 1890's

I'm usually posting stuff in the Coins section of this site but I've been doing a lot of detecting near an old North Dakota Fort that was active from 1866 to 1895, on private land that is, this summer. I've found some really nice buttons, bullets, casings and other relics. Not too sure what this thing is. Soldier made or native made?

The ends of mainly 45-70 rifle casings, some surface found mother of pearl buttons and a round ball.

No sir! You dig every signal out there and 99% of the time it is a relic. It's awesome!

Thanks LtS! I love digging those buttons! This is a different fort from where T got to bottle dig. It is all in plowed fields.
