Cut half hammered coin

Found this today.I think its from Wlliam 1st (William the Lion) from Scotland.If it is it would be dated 1205-1230.The coin has been cut in half and the other half given as change,,,,come to think of it this half would have been given in change..Sorry about the differant size pics,dunno how i did that but its the same coin.

Great find AGAIN!! Just curious. What would they have used to make such a precision cut of the coin. I know it was normal to cut coins for change, but never knew how they accomplished it.
