Hit an old cellar hole today and found a flat button with about nickel size with a small ring of stars and what looks like a fancy L A . Any ideas? Also 3 other buttons and a 1819 cent. Thanks!

Killer button for sure. That is a war of 1812 Light Artillery button. Under the LA is what looks like a 1 so that would make it first regiment. That is a great button and who knows what else may be there. Congratulations

Wow! Thanks so much. My brother found what looks to be some sort of mouthpiece and the back half of another two piece military button. The large cent is dated 1819 so it all kind of fits into that time frame. It was a smallish cellar hole with a well on the top of a hill with no stone walls, A stones throw from Conn
