It's taken me 7 years or so to find this one! I'll be grey by the time I find a morgan hahaa

Thanks for the reply and yes, Great Falls has been hit pretty hard. I have hit Missoula pretty hard for the last 6 years, curb strips and yards. Parks in Missoula are out as it is against specific park rules... you can detect but cannot dig up any target, so in effect... no detecting. I've done my home town of Hamilton for 6 years and have covered it really well. I did try a bit in Kalispell, probably more there to find, and up along the eastern Montana Hi-Line there would be plenty of towns to check.

Leave it to missoula to make such a rule. I don't venture out that way very often but I've been searching some towns heading east. There's a lot of history on that side of the state as well.

I've looked around towns west of Missoula along I-90... Frenchtown, Alberton, Superior, and St. Regis. Not a heck of a lot to see in present day but some research for mining camps and such might produce. We have a member MTTrashDigger who has hit Billings pretty well. I know a couple of guys that have detected Helena pretty hard too. But... the out of the way places like that church you detected should still be good. Down my way I, and a few other local guys, have hit Victor and Stevensville fairly hard. Not much old in Florence or Lolo. Had a friend who lives in Florence find a Morgan Dollar at an old dairy in Lolo!

Awesome peace dollar. My first sillver dollar was a peace also in Montana while detecting with LovestheShiny.
Areas I am in same thing, most everything pounded. yard access most finds. I hike into old sites for relics. Even these sites past 3-5 years often hike in only to see pile of iron trash from previous detectors. Always something to find, just not easy coin targets.
