Found some old property with some old buildings, one of which was originally a church house. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground but I was hunting in the sunny spots. I got a screaming high tone about 4 inches deep. I was about to give up as the hole was filling up with water and I was continually missing it but on my last scoop I flipped it out and saw that beautiful sheen in the sun light. It made a sound only silver makes when it flipped into the air. Staring up at me in the dirt was this beauty!! I couldn't Belive it. Over the years ive found everything from babrers, mercs etc etc but THIS one was on my bucket list for sure!!!

Great shape on that Peace too. Welcome to the Peace Dollar Club ;) Congrats!

Same year as the one I found but WAY better shape

That is one impressive and great looking coin! Congrats on that beauty! I'm over near Hamilton Montana, are you near Big Timber MT?
I'm in Central MT. About 10-15 minutes outside of Great Falls. Not much luck hunting around GF, but an hours drive this way or that and you're in the paydirt! Haven't got to get out your way yet, pretty good stuff out that way?? I'd imagine you'd have some older areas than we do lol.

Thank you!! Biggest silver I've ever found! Before this it was a Kennedy half with 40% silver I think?? Its tough to pick a new favorite find lol. For the longest time I never thought I'd find anything "cooler" than my SLQ. I THINK it's a 1921, the date is almost entirely worn off but you can see a pretty distinct "1" for the last number.

I've only done it once so far, but pulling a silver dollar out of the ground is pretty dang cool for sure. Congrats on your SQL too - never found one of those 'yet'.

I'll bet you'll find more big silver (dollars) there in MT - y'all seem to have a lot of those up there waiting to be found!

Thanks! I sure hope so!

Great coin!! I'm also in the 'done it once' club ('87 Morgan), so I know exactly how you felt when you first laid eyes on it....pretty great feeling!! Good luck when the snow totally goes away!! Here in central NY, it's already gone. I've been out 3 times...best coin so far is an '02 IH. Take care!!

Wow, that peace dollar is beautiful. What an awesome find! I’ve never found a coin that large, let alone a silver in that kind of condition. Congrats!

Congrats on the Peace dollar. Can only imagine the thrill of seeing it come to light. It seems a lot of silver dollars are found in Montana. A few years back I dug a German 3 Mark coin, its roughly the size of a silver dollar. Didn't get too excited because at the time I didn't know what I had. Good luck. Mark

Man, what I wouldn't do for a morgan! I've yet to break into the 1800s club but soon! This is my year lol!

It wasn't quite as clean when I dug it, but I sprayed it off a little and a light wipe with my shirt. The details were incredible. I never imagined my first big silver would be so nice!
