Went out tonight and hit a local curbstrip,I haven’t hit it in awhile and got a few deep coins with the FBS. Been A few years since I found a half dollar, got a barber half tonight, was easily 9-10 inches down in the blackest dirt . It’s got a lot of detail but that dirts on there good so I’m soaking it in olive oil..Got an old buff nickel, and a few Pennie’s. ..Coulda found more but after the half I just walked back home to see what it was. Thanks for looking..

Wow, I'd maim for a barber half right about now. Maim like a extra large pepperoni pizza or similar, nothing more. Congrats on getting out and finding the goods!

Thanks wolf-dog, it could be a 1895,I never thought of that. My eyes are bad and I saw the 5 at the end and assumed a 1905..I’ll get it out of the olive oil in a few days and see if I can get it cleaner.
Yeah, I can't quite tell from the pic if that third digit is a 9 or a 0. I'll be interested in hearing back if you can see for sure after the oil soak. :good:

I think it’s a 1905,best I can get it cleaned. Tried CLR,and baking soda and water…Whatever that dirt is made up of on that curbstrip it sure stains silver. I found a 1962 Rosie there tonight, and it’s just as black stained as the barber half is..

Thanks for the update. Yes, looks like 1905 from here, too. :waytogo:

Hot damn Woody good one. Great save on the Barber half. That coin has been # 2 on my list for a while now. Congrats on the Buff also, one of my favorite finds. I need to start hitting curbstrips. Good luck. Mark
