Need help deciding which detector is best all around detector.Which one is your pick at pro,at gold, or apex :research: ?Thank you.james45

Depends if you want to go in the water.
If so you need an AT machine.
The Apex is very lightweight and the rechargable battery is a plus but you cannot dunk the control box.

I always preferred the AT Gold, wasn't a big fan of the Apex. You should be able to get any of the above mentioned for a good price. Or you could hold off, I heard through the grapevine Garrett may be releasing something in the somewhat near future. Not sure how true that is though.

I started last year with the pro, great machine. Cut my teeth with the ATP. Bought the Nokta Legend and I am more "in tune" with the Legend for some reason. I can pick the tones easier and it works for me now. You can't go wrong with a Garrett.

How is the curve to learn on the legend? At 82 have seeing and hearing problems also they have so many softwares which one is the best?Thank you--james.

I think if your going to hit saltwater beaches the Apex is as good as anything except maybe a Tarssacci but if your just hitting dry sand or parks i maybe like the atpro better only because it's so good at letting you not have to dig tent stakes and bottle caps ,when i hunt with my friends who are about the same skill as me or better i always have less iron garbage,as far as the ATgold i only have a couple hours so i really can't comment like cellrdwellr said there might be a new one coming soon

James,

Not much of a learning curve once you have it set up. The wireless headphones work like a charm. I am a tone hunter at first, then look at the screen once the tone sounds good to determine approximate location.

The Legend is upgradable through your pc, has a large following with plenty of people to help you if you need it. Can't go wrong.
