Anyone have any tips for detecting at night? I'm starting to think that after dark might be my best bet since I'm not a big fan of kids or annoying people. Tonight I went to a local park right at sunset and waited for the last of the little demons to leave, got to work and not more than 2 minutes later another bunch showed up.

I like to hit those places at dawn. (Sometimes before dawn.) By the time they show up, I'm worn-out and ready to go home.

I've tried hunting in the dark, but it makes digging up the target too difficult and time consuming to be worth it for me.

The best time to hunt schools and parks is from dawn until around eleven am on Saturdays and Sundays when the weather is nice. Once the temps stay in the 40's and 50's all day you can pretty much have any park or school to yourself all day. That's why I like late fall and early winter so much.

Good luck!

Around here parks and school yards are closed after dark. Any light you use draws attention and sometimes the cops. Beach hunting after dark with a scoop is another story. Rob

If you're waiting for all the kids, dating couples, etc. to leave at night, you're probably going to be right up against the park closing time...around here, the cops will sometimes search your vehicle if you're on the grounds after closing...all in all, a lot of hassle...and like the others said, target location is tougher at night...best time for parks is as close to sunup as possible...good luck...RR
