A moment of silence for my BH 3300

I was in a very, very bad car accident. It was not my fault and I'm going to be ok in the long run. No worries there for me. Others were not as fortunate. I kept a little angel pin on my visor that I had dug up in a school yard so she must have been watching over me.

My car was smooshed, particularly the back end. I always keep my metal detecting stuff in the trunk. My BH 3300 was smashed up and I only found half of it when I went to get my personal belongings out of the car. I was getting really good with it up to 4 inches deep. I will miss it.

My VibraProbe made it though! Even though it cost a lot less than the BH I'm absurdly happy that it didn't get smooshed. I'm not sure that my life time warranty covers "Smooshing by tractor-trailer."

I still have the BH's little brother, the BH 2200, so when I'm well enough to walk around again I won't be totally out of the hobby. I had just moved it out of the truck and into my closet to make a bit more space in my trunk.

Sorry to hear about the BH's short life.....but am very glad that we are not reading about it the other way.... take your time at the recovery stage....Ray

A metal detector can be replaced, you on the other hand cannot... Get well soon :)

So sorry to hear of your mishap. Luckily you came out okay, "things" can be replaced, you cannot! Stay safe and God speed your recovery! HH

I'm glad to hear you're ok. Do you think you can get money for it from your insurance?

Glad to hear you're OK! I'm thinking you've got a great excuse to upgrade. ;)

The fact that you are writing this post tells me you are ok, and that is a blessing. Yup, its a shame about your machine for sure, but at least you can still operate one. Glad to hear you are ok.

Tres - get well soon. The list on the 3300 was $299 for the insurance! ;) You can print it from the internet.

That bites, but glad to hear you are on your way to recovery. Don't rush back into things though!

In memory of your BH I'll do a 21 sweep salute with the Ace 250 Sunday AM

The thoughts and comments that everyone has conveyed to you" DIDO "....... You had mentioned the other folks were'nt so lucky, but will they be ok also?

There were multiple fatalities and some people were taken out in helicopters. I don't know yet if they are still alive.

Please don't take my post as a sign of disrespect for those who died or were savagely injured. I just need a little break from the trauma and some levity. I am, of course, not truly upset about the loss of my detector and other possessions. I just need a little levity in my life right now.

The 21 sweep salute made me laugh. Thanks so much for that.

Hope all goes well for you and those involved. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. You have an angel on your shoulder.

Hope you're out there swinging in the near future. Get well soooooonn. I also keep an angel in my car.

Tres, get well soon. When you survive that kind of accident, every day for the rest of your life can be thought of as icing on the cake..when you're better, and if you have access to a fire hose, I've got an idea for speeding up your vac coin retrieval ..HH Roadrunner_426

Hope your recovery is smooth! Take your time and don't over do it.

I'm back! I still can't swing a detector, or at least not for more than one or two minutes, but I'm about as good as I'm going to get health wise. My gf said that we could try getting a cheap one and going out together. She will swing and I will dig. If she enjoys it then we can get a nice unit and go out whenever one of us wants to.

I have resumed my car vac discovery operations. I found three one dollar BILLS in the first one that I opened.

Thanks for the e:mails and private messages!

Happy to see you back

Tres! glad to hear from you again. I hope you are getting around better and can get back to detecting again. It's always a sad sound when you hear coins getting sucked up the vacuum hose at the car wash. Being retired I could always use some extra income, so how do I get into the vacuum cleaner coin retreaval business? I have to imagine there must be an occasional piece of jewelry in those dust tubs too......keep us posted and welcome back........Gil

Hi Grins!

I need to ask a board moderator where I should put the thread I want to start on the car vac stuff. They may feel that since this isn't really metal detecting that I should take the subject elsewhere.

Here is a link to where we first started talking about this and how the experiment came about. I have some ideas about how to make this an easier, faster, and more profitable process. I'll PM a moderator and ask if we can have a thread about this.

Tres Gay Glad to hear you will be ok .Sorry to hear your detector is gone.
Makes me think a day of digging all pulltabs should go in the good day file.
