Tom and I met in San Francisco at one of his good detecting places and he had cut the grass with an electric weed whacker for easy swinging low to the ground.
I was out gunned as I had my Teknetics Patriot with 5 inch coil, he used the Explorer 2.
I was happy finding the 45 war nickel in the picture. It was unusually sunny and hot so I didn't stay long.
It was great to finally meet you Tom, Next winter if the storms wreck the beaches down in Carmel area maybe I will come there too?

Congrats on that war nick there Metal, and congrats on hunting with TIC. Did you plant the GPS tracker on him like we planned?

I kid. But that's pretty dang cool you two got to meet up and hunt.

I like the keys too.

Nice finds. Good thing you didn't find a Large Cent, 😜

If you'd have gave us more notice, I'd have sent you a roached East coast large cent and a Colonial spoon you could plant. Tom would have probably sounded off on all the boring gold coins he found before popping a large.

Did you notice if Tom had two homing pigeons with him🤨
Tom kept mumbling "There's a large cent around here somewhere ".

Nice meeting you metal addict. Sorry that my reliable "stomping grounds" was inaccessible . Spring grass was too tall. I did manage 1 wheatie there, and this German cross. And here's a pix from the internet of what they look like when not corroded. I guess a soldier returning from WWII brought this home as a souvenir.

I ended up at a little tractor scrape @ an intersection in GGP, and got a wheatie, 1920 Chinese coin, and the obligatory clad (it was already fill dirt jumbled there).

Then went and doddled around the parking median strip @ Funston Ave north of GGP. The grass was mowed there, so it was do-able. But I can tell it's been hammered hard by legions of md'rs since the old days when I'd last ever hunted there. Got some more wheaties, an '06 IH, & 3 silver. But it is slim pickens.

I forgot to mention Tom is 6foot 4 with rippling biceps but all the women were staring at me with my fabulous body and shiny bald head glistening in the sun!

And yes, we were real chick magnet rock star celebrities there ! :friends:

That's cool you guys got to meet up. Yeah, spring time grass is getting thick everywhere making it hard to get much depth. Have had to get creative with the spots to hunt to find things.
