84 Silver Coin Month! '55 Class Ring! 3 Gold, 41 Silver Coin Week!

Kind of running out of words for your and Jason's posts....... Just unreal Dan, great hunts and finds!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, bruinvikes! Good luck to you too.

Thanks, beephead! Explorer SE Pro! Been my primary machine for turf for many years.....for beach hunting, TDI Pro with large coil!

Those finds are just incredible! Congratulations!

You're in an entirely different league of detecting. Now I'm going to start stashing away my clad to buy an SE Pro!

Another great report Dan. Your month of January was stupendous. An amazing start to 2016. Not only am I very impressed with the count and the quality of the finds but finding both halves of that Rosie is fantastic. I hope the joy of the hunt stays with you because your results I'm sure will. Congrats my friend on some really fine hunting. Jack

congratulations on a great month.I wish I could hear those deep coins
Thanks, Bigstoff. Even if you have good hearing, you have to know what to listen for.

Thanks, Rob!!

Crazy awesome month Dan. Congrats on all the finds. Who would have thought that after the year we had last year that this year would start like this for us. With this cold I had and little league now starting hopefully we can do some hunting together soon. I know what you mean about high grass. A park I went to last night was crazy overgrown after just a couple weeks.
Thanks, Jason! January was a great month for the both of us! Conditions were perfect! Now with this crazy warm weather, our turf conditions may worsen with higher grasses. We both have seen the grasses growing like crazy already. What a year so far...don't know what to expect next.

You just matched in one month what took me all year to find in 2015  nothing short of amazing Dan I've learned to expect nothing less , you and that explorer have a connection married couples don't experience  its gonna be a good year (record breaking) for you I can already tell! HH
Thanks, Jeff! That's funny about the marriage and my Explorer. Yes, we are a match made in heaven. With the grasses growing back already in our turf areas like crazy, I'm afraid our finds are going to be difficult in the coming months. Last year here, we had record heat and drought conditions, which really helped get that extra depth we needed.

You are kickin some serious butt. Keep it going
Thanks, Joe! You're doing pretty darn well yourself! Keep it going!

A superb start to the season Dan, congrats on the haul of silvers, especially the Barber Quarter...the gold and everything else. Great job!

Crazy!!!!! I think you have a time machine and revisit the 1960's lol
Thanks for the reply, CW! My time machine is a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited....It has faithfully taken me to old parks, schools, and beaches for as long as I can remember. My backseat driver (my Explorer SE), however, does most of the dirty work.

:jawdrop: Congrats!
Thanks for the reply, wwdetecting. Good luck to you!

I'm just starin' at the big pile.
Thanks, Jeff. I still can't believe the month I had either.

You set the bar pretty high last year but it looks like your on pace to do even better in 2016, Incredible, Congrats!
Thanks, Ron. I won't do better this year, even though I had a great January. Ground conditions have changed for the worst already in So Cal parks.

JHFC I quit!

Holy moly man. That's amazing. Mind blowing. Eye popping. Crazy

Congrats!
 Funny, GS! Does Jesus really have a middle name? Thanks for the reply.

DANNNNG!! Dan, I thought you said you weren't trying to break your year silver coin record
Thanks, Donnybrook! I'm not trying to break it. Last January, 2015, I dug 101 silvers that month. I will be a loong way off of my last years totals...

Dan, you are a true stud-muffin in the arena of metal detecting. They should put you on the cover of GQ Magazine, and do a detecting centerfold of you!
Thanks, Tom. As long as they don't take any photos of my badly calloused hands, the photos should come out great!

Absolutely amazing month! Better than I will do for the year. Congrats yet again. Just freakin' wow!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Jerry! I wish you all the best in your new location!

Way to go Dan! You know, I've heard you say the same thing every year In the 10 years I've known you: "this year won't be as good as last year". Eventually it might be true, but not so far! I miss hunting with ya buddy!
I dug a wheat and an Indian in the same hole at a WORKED park today. Haven't found an Indian since I left California!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Mike! Well, this may be "THE" year, regretfully. Last month was due to a freak of nature...perfect, dormant grass conditions with moist ground. We're having temps in the 80's now, and the grasses are growing back like gangbusters. Awesome on your Injun/wheat spill. It was a lot of fun back in those days when we were first hunting together.....we had soooo many spots full of oldies! Ah, the good old days!

Excellent, congrats on those amazing numbers, i bet your going to do good on the gold this year, and the silvers will keep on showing here an there, were did you get that soldier, i found two of those a couple weeks ago. Yesterday again in a batch of coins i tumbled i got two more war nickels and that puts me @ 23 silver coins for january. May the streak continue for you and me tomorrow.
Thanks, Alex! The lead soldier came from the beach...deep find! I've only dug a few of them in my area over the years. You had a fantastic January! Congrats, and continued success to you too!

Great write up and finds! Hey Dan, I wonder if that melted gold is a nugget?
Mud
Thanks, Mud! I don't think it is a nugget. I found it at the beach, and more than likely, it came from a fire pit from the beach. We're always finding melted conglomerates of trash/iron, but the melted gold is a first for me.

WOW ,,, great job ,,, hope your luck holds next month
Thanks for the reply, fasteddy! I hope so too, but if it doesn't, I will go fishing instead.

WOW!! you found all that in one month??? thats insane congrats on the finds very nice!!

Golden
Thanks, Golden. Those pics above are just a portion of what I found last month. It was a great month for me. Good luck to you!

Holy smokes! Congrats but boy it's gonna be hard to ever top that month
Thanks, Duckhunter! Yeah, I won't even try to top my Jan finds for the rest of the year. Last year, I had a couple 100+ silver months.

Kind of running out of words for your and Jason's posts....... Just unreal Dan, great hunts and finds!!!!!
Thanks, Sean! My finds were coming so fast last month, I didn't even have time to log them in my spreadsheet until yesterday...lol. Finds have greatly slowed down in Feb now. Best of luck if you can get out for a hunt!!

Those finds are just incredible! Congratulations!

You're in an entirely different league of detecting. Now I'm going to start stashing away my clad to buy an SE Pro!
Thanks, UrbanDigger! The SE Pro is a great machine for turf hunting. Might be hard to find one, since Minelab stopped making them years ago. You'll see one in the classifieds every now and then. E-Trac/CTX are great turf machines too..

Another great report Dan. Your month of January was stupendous. An amazing start to 2016. Thanks, Jack! It's always a kick to find matching pieces of the same silver coin. A few years ago, I found all 3 matching pieces of the same silver Washington. I still am loving the thrill/challenge of the hunt, in addition to the mental/physical benefits detecting has given me all these years!

JEEEEZZZZ man, heck of a month!
Thanks, Zee! Jan will probably be my best month this year! Good luck down there!

Crazy!!!!! I think you have a time machine and revisit the 1960's lol

now wouldn't that be SWEET!!!!

Dan, another post that I have run out of words to describe!!! Unbelievable!!! Congrats on another series of incredible hunts! Did you find both halves of the cut Rosie? or are they different pieces?

What a fantastic month!!! Your post has encouraged me to go back to an area that I have hit countless times without a high tone. I'm going to go very slow and see if I can pull anything else out of there. Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Hey, John! Thanks for your reply! My post had fallen off the first page, and I didn't check to see if anyone else had replied to me.

Yes, I found 2 pieces of the same cut Rosie....I found them on different days, within 30ft of each other..

How's your turf/weather conditions out there? Impossible to hunt? it's has been near 90 degrees here in So Cal the past few days...record breaking temps, but I'm a little under the weather right now. Not gonna overdo it..

Dan you are killing it out her in So Cal area..:shock:
Thanks for the reply, Ironman! I've been killing it since 2007 in So Cal. A few of my buddies had multi-hundred silver years in the turf also for the past few years.

Hello Nickors! Thanks for your reply. There are parks where I live that I have hunted nearly a hundred times, and there's still keeper targets to find! Some spots had more to find than others, but the trash layers made it possible to find these more elusive targets if you hunted in a more slow, methodic fashion...patience/persistence!! Best of luck!!
