Got out to a school yard track for 2 hours, with the e-trac,i like the machine,i found 3.15 in clad some quarter's from the 80s,oldest was a 1962 nickel,if only it were a dime ,no silver,i will be out much earlier tomorrow,2.69 of the clad was on the top,a cache from somebody's jacket, or coat drop on the top,so that was a first, biggest cache in one spot for me,i must say i have alot to learn, the number's,and how to set my own setting's,i just hunted in the factory coin setting, day light was short,i would post a pick but it was just clad, not worth the trouble, gonna kick back ,and watch the raven 49er game at 8pm ,Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving Earl

thank's Fred

Ya i guess i will have to break out the long shovel ,when i start running the machine hot,i am not sure how deep i was penatrating the ground in the factory coin setting but it wasn't to bad,the ferrous #s seemed not as stable as i would have thought, had fun,i will look for that Jaw dropper tomorrow,i will try a older site,Earl

Nice first spin, Earl. I generally don't even notice the Fe numbers unless they really get out of whack. Another thing you will notice as you get the hours in...some of these oldies will have Fe numbers above the 12 line, or that bounce from 12ish and up and back. Wheats in particular, but it can happen with any of them. When I see something bouncing up from 12 on the Fe line I'll generally get excited. No hard and fast rule, but you will get the feel for it with practice.

that pattern is fine if you remember to OPEN the upper right corner for bigger silver HH

Ignore the number for a while. Just listen to the tones and dig everything. If you focus on the numbers, you will get into bad habits and never trust your tones. In the end, you will miss alot of good targets.

As for the shovel, get yourself a Sampson or a Raven. Trust me, I went with a cheep thin, deep spade and it is worth the money to get a good one instead.

Ya Vexhold is on the money about ignoring the numbers. I have about 20hours on my new e-trac and am just getting comfortable with the tones and then checking out the #s. Great Machine!

Nice job on your first outting with your silver killer. Im sure you will do fine....HH
