All, I evidently need to replace the battery in my Deus 2 controller as it will not charge at all. I charged it for several hours the other night and now nothing. The coil will work with the headphones so I know those items are good. Battery is a little over two years old so a little surprised it would go belly up this quick. The other day while detecting all was well until I turned it off and half hour later it wouldn't turn back on. Are the batteries for the controller the same as for the headphones and pinpointer? And where would I get one? Thanks for any suggestions!

Batteries are warrantied for 2 years I think. Get XP to do the replacement. You don’t want to void your 5 year warranty on the remote control or accidentally mess up the waterproofing.

I believe battery in remote is same as the coil. However I have recently took possession of a replacement coil battery from big boys hobbies. That particular battery is glue in a little fixture there fits the coil. I am not 100 percent sure one can get the glued fixture off of one of those without damaging battery. Call Bart at big boys hobbies and inquire about a Deus 2 remote battery. My recommendation. I will be interested what he comes up with.
To install battery- hmmm.
There is some risk.
I know how to take remote apart. I have done.
Get your users manual out and look. There is some info.
I may show via video how to do.
It is do at your own risk. If you plan on submerging unit. Recommend s tad of the silicon grease for the end cap seals.
I believe you only remove bottom cap. Plus speaker.
Give me little time. See what I can do.

Do you get charging indication when you hook your remote up to charger? If not. Might be more than battery that is wrong. Hmm

Below is link to video (I have done in last few minutes) showing how to dissemble Xp Deus 2 remote control for battery change. This is a do at your OWN risk. The video is not academy award winning quality. Yet I do think it gives some good info. Hope this helps.

Disclaimer: I am not a Deus 2 component certified technician.

Tnsharpshooter, thanks for the vid! Certainly not rocket science to change the battery. The battery is past warranty and is more than two years old. The manual shows that the controller and pinpointed take the same battery (part #DO88M-WTUBE) p.45 of the owners manual. Battery is supposed to be 700 mAh controller and coil the same p. 43. There are several sellers on eBay that seem to have these but they all look like the same battery and say they fit the Ml-4 & 6 pinpointers but not specifically the controller specifically but as said the manual shows the pinpointer and controller batteries are the same so by rghts it should work.

You are welcome.

Folks reading here .
See pages 39 and 49 this link.

Going back through the owners manual the Deus 2 controller and pinpointer have the same part number for the battery but they're not the same. Pinpointers take a 630 mAh battery and the controller again is 700 mAh. Odd they would have the same part #.

The mAh may not matter that much? The Deus 1 takes the 630 mAh battery same as the pinpointer. Makes sense the 2 would need a little more. I ordered a new battery off Amazon for about $18. If I sent in to a repair facility not under warranty I'm sure I'd be looking at close to $100 with shipping.

The Deus 1 manual shows coil with 700 mah battery. Also notice Deus 1 WS4 uses bigger amperage rated battery than Deus 2 Ws6. Quite a bit less for ws6 actually.
Deus 2 remote is not hard on battery for current draw. Even with external speaker used. Bone conductive headphones will use some extra current.

Just to update. Put the Amazon battery in and alls good. All the torx screws are all the same, size 6. Plugs right in. The battery came fully charged. Looks like XP has the battery warranty pegged. Lasted two years and two months. This was one of the pre-ordered Machines so maybe the battery had more age to it than I'm thinking.

Sounds good. As far as battery holding up in remote. You may not believe this. Expect some to go lot longer than 2 years and a few months. We’ll see. Remote battery doesn’t get lot of current drawed out of it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see many go 4 years plus. Some may go 6 years plus. Time will tell.
Glad you are up and running.
Coil batteries is what I would expect to see shorter life on. It’s gets hammered for current. Some modes (freq) worse than others.
I got a couple deus 1 coils that are getting old. Original batteries and still work.

Thanks tss for all the help info on this! The bottom screw on the back they had covered up with tape from the factory for some reason. My Deus One 9" HF coil battery has just started to go bad as I was using it as the back up to my D2. Fortunately on the HF coils the battery is separate in the stem. An easy replacement. That battery is probably around 4 years old.

Yep screw on back (lower) cover with tape of some sort. Guess I should have mentioned that in video.
You are welcome.
Others here may find helpful too.

Unfortunately another update. Battery not the problem. Whatever in the motherboard that sends the current from the battery to the circuitry I guess is the problem. Wil be sent to a repair center in near future. We'll see how that goes. Seems like it disconnects itself from the battery somehow. If anyone has had similar issues with their D2 I'm all ears. Two years out of a $1,600 detector doesn't sit too well with me. Depending on what the cost may be to get the D2 up and running a different make may be in order.

I suspected battery not the problem. My remote battery has zillions of hours on it. And a lot to using external speaker run full bore.
Wish you luck.

Yeah, I pulled the circuit board out to see if there was some dirt or corrosion on it somewhere. It was pristine. No signs of any water or dirt. Did not see any cracks in the board. I'll probably get a circuit board replacement. Save about $300 over getting the whole controller. Just two plug-in's, battery and charger. Pretty easy. Would like to know what failed on it to just satisfy my curiosity.
