Garrett is a day late and a dollar short as always, seemingly hopeful that a rehashed at pro will keep them going i guess.
Betting dollars to donuts? As I recall, Minelab explained it as simply not thinking it was necessary to pay the extortion money for the IP Code, so they did their own testing and the specs for the 600/800 are equal to a 68 Code. Remember, this was 2016. I’d be willing to bet that if they didn’t have the ingress issues that they had with the 600/800 they wouldn’t have paid to get an IP Code for the 700/900. Minelab has made no claims, that I’m aware of, to specific changes to the housing, other than it “has the IP Code”. And based upon Minelab’s history of being very creative with words, I’d bet dollars to donuts that it’s the same housing and buying the IP Code is just a marketing ploy to assuage the reluctance of buyers who were concerned with the ingress issues with 600/800.
How many units per thousand do you think had ingress problems? One? Two? Three?
In the internet age it only takes one.
Hope you are right about the TRX. I will buy one for sure if they match it. Not sure why they just don't change the color. Whites had shells you could buy and change out if I remember correctly.Where's Garrett?
Well it is my take that they are in the back room with the magnifiers going over all the old Whites stuff and they are trying to figure out how to build something with the Garrett name on it that is of that quality. Right now they are stumped with the TRX and trying to figure out how to build a carrot that will match the performance of that pinpointer. A few more months and they will probably be making an announcement on their findings.
You are right, and I like the xp pinpointer sounds.I think I will get one.Where's Garrett?

Yep, but I still like my ATP. I bet the GPX clone(Axiom) is a great detector, however price is a deal breaker.Garrett is a day late and a dollar short as always, seemingly hopeful that a rehashed at pro will keep them going i guess.
Show me the Moneeeeeeeeyyyyy!Oh boy ,i didn't want to do it but looks like i'm going to have to post some pictures of my first 6 weeks of this year with my Apex and Infinium and i don't think the Garrett haters are going to like it
I put it on the beach sectionShow me the Moneeeeeeeeyyyyy!
Ok stop and think about what you just said. Have you ever given a thought that this is just exactly what they want to do. Let the other detector manufactures play the 'Mine is Bigger Than Yours" game till cross competition levels out the prices and maybe lower than one or two had expected. In the meantime, Poor old Garrett that hasn't had a game changing machine in quite a while has been quietly sitting on the side lines developing a bigger, Badder machine that just might blow the competition right out of the water. What a strategy! Let the others fight amongst themselves till they run out of options and then when the time is right STRIKE!! They come out with a machine that will all but bury the competition. This is just a thought of what Could happen. So, if I was ya'll, I would be putting extra change away for a new machine that might be on the horizon. Besides, if it doesn't happen, look at the extra money you saved. Heck! That's a win win.I'm personally not hating, just expect more from a U.S. company that is currently getting their wheels blown off in the sport division
If this was Garretts game play, it's got to have cost a lot in overhead dollars for all these years. Makes no financial sense to me.Ok stop and think about what you just said. The Axiom has nothing to do with any Minelab GPX model other than being pulse induction. It’s not a GPX clone. The Axiom is a very new and very improved Garrett ATX that doesn’t need a harness to swing. It’s expensive because it is mostly for high end gold nugget prospecting. Putting it in the same sentence with the AT Pro is like comparing the price of a good quality high school or college level lab microscope to an electron microscope. They basically both magnify or detect things but the similarities end there.Yep, but I still like my ATP. I bet the GPX clone(Axiom) is a great detector, however price is a deal breaker.
Maybe so, but as we all know the detector companies are constantly striving to improve their product lines. I guess I can't see the overhead you speak of, but I also won't say it's there. I know if I was a manufacturer in a very competitive market, I would make sure my R&D department was developing a product that was a reliable game changer that could, or would dominate the detector market for quite a while. But hey! what do I know, I'm just a Hoser. If this was Garretts game play, it's got to have cost a lot in overhead dollars for all these years. Makes no financial sense to me
