1860 Presidential Campaign Token

That is a very neat and historic recovery Liam. Congrats on the , the Silver Washington, the Buffalo, Wheat's and all the rest. And yes on finally digging your white whale with your first "V". I know that feeling as the "V" was mine also took me just under 10 years to get my first. Then last year I dug 3 and now so far this year I have dug another 3. Hope that happens for you. Trapper

Thanks Trapper, figured it had to show up sooner or later.

Fantastic finds. I love anything Presidential.

Let me share this find. I had a high signal but when I found it it it looked like a tightly folded piece of foil. However later I saw an American flag imprinted on the end and carefully unfolded it. It’s 2”x4” and actually a silver foil. There are flags on each end and a man’s portrait in the center surrounded by a wreath. The words PRESIDENT HARDING are on the top.

I sent pictures to the Harding Museum asking what it was. Surprisingly they don’t know but say the wreaths make it a memorial after his death in 1921.

I’ve made overtures about sending it to them for display and am awaiting answers to a few questions

Great save, that would be a big feather in your cap if the Harding museum elects to display your find!

Nice ! I found one about 6yrs ago and yours is the only other one I’ve seen dug. I’m sure there are probably others around but that’s a great find.

Here is mine

Nice! Yours is in great looking shape. Did you clean it a certain way? I haven’t done anything to mine, just brushed the dirt off lightly with a toothbrush.

I did clean mine by soaking in a plastic cup of scrubbing bubbles until the bubbles mostly stop which was about 10mins then used a soft toothbrush to brush away the crud. I use this technique for certain things.
