XP Deus Water Hunting Conversion Question

Hello there friends. I just wanted to let everyone know that I've finally received my XP Deus Lite and have taken it out on its first hunt. I didn't find much but was able to take my daughter along with me and had a really great time! We only found a clad quarter and a costume jewelry ring but were only out for an hour or so. I still have a bit of the learning curve to get over but have no doubt in my mind that the Deus will pay for it's room and board.

As far as the title of the post, I have finally assembled the ingredients I think are needed to take the Deus water hunting. I have a few doubt's however and wanted the opinions of all the experts out there (that's all of you :-) ) on if my setup will be safe or not for the WS4 controller. I don't intend to go too deep with the setup but wanted to at least get 10 or 15 feet under the surface. The setup I have gone with consists of the following: WS4 w/headphone adaptor, small round speaker near the same diameter of the WS4, length of simple copper wire (52" long), waterproof case (up to 10 meters deep). The configuration for this setup will be as follows: WS4 plugged into speaker inside waterproof case, length of wire running down the shaft attached to coil on one end and case back on the other, waterproof case strapped to either my wrist or upper arm. I intend to purchase a good snorkel set with fins to use for transporting me to the bottom of the abyss and hope to find all that treasure that's been waiting for me!

Please let me know if any of you have tried the Deus in and/or under the water and what your experiences have been. Thanks and happy hunting!

Is this fresh water you are talking about? I haven't gone underwater with my Deus yet. From your description it sounds like you may have difficulty hearing the tones through your case under water. I would probably recommend getting the waterproof kit from XP since it allows the use of phones and comes with waterproof earbuds.

Jadocs,
Thank you for the reply. The locations I am planning on detecting are all fresh water. I don't have any beach trips planned for another year or so but would eventually like to hit the coast. I was also wondering if I would be able to hear the signals but the little speaker I purchased is quite loud and rechargable just like the rest of the Deus. I will have to test it out submerged and see but I figured if I couldn't hear the signals very well I could at least read the vdi numbers with the bag strapped to my wrist or forearm. I will share my first experience with the setup once I've been out in the water. Thanks again for the reply. God bless and happy hunting!

Get a dedicated water machine. Nothing about the Deus seems like it would hold up well under water. The shaft has too much flex for starters. I cant see looking at VDI when youre 10' under with a snorkel either. I love the Deus but think youd be better served adding a dedicated water hunting multi freq machine to your lineup.

SwingLo,

Thank you for your reply. Before I purchased the Deus I had considered purchasing the MX Sport or AT Pro but settled for the Deus because of its versitility. I would have purchased the CTX but didn't want to take out a second mortgage on the house lol. I won't be purchasing another detector for a while but when the time comes I will go with a dedicated water detector. Thanks for the wisdom. God bless and good hunting!

I concur with the Deus and Excal being a great combination.
