Where's Garrett?

They must have an over stock in the carrot item. Should they go ahead and put out their version of the TRX then you will probably see a crowd of dissatisfied folks that are still holding those old carrot up the shaft pointers and want to trade those in.
Yup...I ordered two. Both came with almost dead Duracell batteries from sitting on the distributors shelf too long. How long does it take for a Duracell to die without ever being used?

I purchased an AT Max a few years back. It is almost useless on the beach. So noisy that I can’t use it. I know there is a huge complicated procedure to detune it to quiet it down, but it seems to defeat the purpose. I am thinking of a PI machine. I may be digging everything but it shouldn’t make me crazy.
Try the Manticore. Great beach or relic machine.

On salt blacksand beaches , a good PI has ALWAYS been the ruler and king. But make no mistake. It WILL drive you crazy.

Try an apex on the beach it's as good as anything at the beach ,mine has found around 60 gold ,i turn it on and go

I figured a Multi frenquency AT series that was waterproof was only around the corner with how long the apex has been out. Not sure what the holdup is
I think it's getting close, there's some new apex videos on the Garrett website and if you dissect the wording it sounds like they're positioning it below something i'm guessing the at apex is coming soon and i got a pretty good guess at what's after that

They will name it At multi pro! Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh! :woohoo::woot::wow2:

Garret were fairly popular low to mid priced machines in the UK at one point. The seem to have lost the mid priced market to Minelab and Nocta although I still see a few AT Pro's on digs..

What we do see are many beginners turn up with an entry level Garret and seem to either not bother with headphones, or perhaps the machine doesn't have a headphone jack? Regardless, all you hear across the dig are tones that sound like an old 56k dial up modem.. To me, they truly sound awful...I have no idea if this style of sound is used across most of the Garret range, or whether it's just thier lower end machines but I could never enjoy using a machine that sounded like that..

I was weaned on Tesoros, Whites, and Garretts. I miss my AT Pro. All these new hyped faster processors, iron bias, unmasking sells pitch is fine, but my good old AT Pro performed for me just as well. I miss a detector designed for American soil. Come one Garrett, let's see something good.

All these new detectors to hit the market and in my opinion there has been no new tech. Advancement in old tech, yes, but nothing new. We've had multi-frequency, both SMF & MF (selectable) for years, Garrett was the first to explore imaging with the GTI, Minelab improved the tech with the CTX, and now the Manticore. Other than that, detectors have gotten lighter and cheaper. Cheaper in cost for features, not so much quality.

True, I don't know that too many beginners start out with headphones. As far as the Ace 250, it does have a headphone jack. Personally, I enjoy the tones that the Garrett detectors utilize, but that's simply an example of how each of us have different preferences. I think that these kinds of diverse opinions & preferences help make the world a more unique and wonderful place.

Is Garrett still missing from releasing a multi-frequency in the same realm as the Nokta Legend or Nox 900?

Garrett has a multi frequency detector, unfortunately it doesn’t compare to what Minelab, XP, or Nokta offer. Not even close!

I am aware of the Apex, thus my statement, ”in the same realm as the Nokta Legend or Nox 900”.

I don't think the Apex is quite on the same playing field myself. A low-end Legend maybe? Surely not Garrett's flagship.
Garrett placed the Apex in the Ace line. They are not pretending it is a high end machine. Pretty much a power up and go machine.

But there are lots of reports it does very well at the beach.

My dealer wasn't impressed last fall saying it was very chatty and offered me a very good deal on one.

This spring he said Garrett upgraded the software and solved it's problem.

The downside is that for the same money you can get a fully waterproof LEGEND.
