Warning!!!!!!!

Dont get me started on eBay/Paypal these days. eBay is no longer cheaper than any other website. Look at it, everything is RETAIL or higher on their these days. If you're a seller, you have NO protection. Everything on ebay and paypal is now buyer protection. I had to wait weeks for paypal to release 'holds' that were supposedly to protect the buyers until they left positive feedback. so stupid I stopped the whole ebay thing.

But yes, he probably received it and is trying to get his money back. I'd say to those people, tough luck, better luck next time. Especially if I have receipts showing it was sent.

ALWAYS send priority (del. confirm included) and insure it at THEIR expense.

How would you know for sure that he did received package, don't be like that. Post on here does not questioning did he send it or did I received. I'm trying to get my money back c'mon don't be like that. It's only $100 so if is got lost I don't really care. I will buy other one and problem solved. People like you make me very mad for questioning and accusing others.

I'm 100% positive that what's going on and that will be here. I'm not in any kind of hurry, can't detect here anyway, will take couple months to ground unfroze.

You are way OFF BASE! Bad things do happen to GOOD people! Silver Star is a stand up forum member and I do not suspect for an instant fowl play! The package will arrive! I choose to see the best in the people I deal with. Enough said............ Jan

Hey Janster,

Are you certain your coin was shipped via USPS First Class? Not that you meant to, but could it have been assigned USPS Parcel Post instead, either by you or the Clerk? Parcel Post is a nine (9) day service. First Class is generally 4-6 days across country, depending on current volume and it wasn't mentioned, but USPS Priority is typically 3-4 days.

Also, none of these are “Guaranteed” services. They are merely suggested estimates. Prior to entering into retirement, I had worked for UPS and USPS. Another thing consumers don't generally allow for, the day the parcel/package is delivered to either UPS or USPS for shipping, does not count.

United Parcel Service and Federal Express actually use a "tracking number" keeping them informed (for the most part), where a parcel/package is within their respective systems.

The USPS offers a "Delivery Confirmation Number". It neither tells them or the consumer, where said package is until it has been delivered and then, that is only if the Carrier remembers to scan it.

In general, all of the carriers due a phenomenal job at getting items delivered. Regardless of which carrier is chosen, the human element still plays a huge factor and due to no one being perfect, they also make mistakes, some times damaging or losing items.

Hopefully your package, regardless of why it was delayed, will arrive shortly and everyone will be satisfied. Happy Hunting to Everyone!!

If I have anything important anymore, I prefer to ship it via something other than the USPS. The last thing I sent with them, a scanner, bubble wrapped and double boxed, went to Hawaii. It got there, but the lady at the window told my mother that because I said it was fragile, it HAD to go Priority, so it cost me $38 to send a scanner I sold for $55. I would have argued with them, but I was at work, so my mother took it up there for me. I could have explained that it was wrapped and double boxed, but my mother couldn't.

Also, I have a book I got off of eBay by Fred Allen ("Treadmill to Oblivion"), a hardcover, that arrived BENT IN THREE!!!

I ordered some coins a few years ago that never arrived. The USPS won't even start looking until they've been missing for 30 days, I guess to give their pet thieves a head start. My dad worked for the USPS for years, and he didn't disagree with me.

Some ancient coin dealers are now refusing to ship to the US unless we include extra in order to ship DHL or someone else, because of a 15% loss rate when the packages go through the USPS in NYC!!!

I am not accusing you of anything bobbulge, since you are one of the many honest USPS workers in the system. However, it seems that upper management had no incentive to clean up the mess. Didn't the head of the USPS get paid a large 5-figure sum a few years ago for moving expenses, including hotel, FOR A MOVE ACROSS TOWN???

Sorry for the rant.

Going back to my previous comment... it was NOT my intention to upset anyone. I am not pointing fingers at any one person in my previous post or this post here. Just keeping it real. The TRUTH of the matter is without any evidence from either the shipper or purchaser, there's no way of knowing what's what.

But let's say this. Let's use this experience for example... the item in question was sent parcel post and it was 'slower' to arrive. Say a week late, after negotiations to refund money had taken place. SOME might say 'ok, got my money back' and a week later the item arrives. The seller is out the item and money. It's then up to the buyer whether or not they're going to say anything about it to fix the situation. It's a buyers world online these days.

Again, my previous comments weren't directed to any forum members in particular, just relaying my experiences with eBay/Paypal scam artists. But let's also clarify that a proof of mailing receipt does NOT indicate a specific item was shipped either. Humanity today isn't what it used to be, hence the reason I mentioned in my previous post, always send priority (3-5 day w/ delivery confirmation included) or any other service with a tracking service for larger items.

Patience is a virtue, and please remember weather also affects delivery times too.

Ok here is what YOU posted: But yes, he probably received it and is trying to get his money back. I'd say to those people, tough luck, better luck next time. Especially if I have receipts showing it was sent.

That what I was talking about because it looked that you are talking about that person in not so nice way, also I'm sorry for your previous experiences on EBay/PayPal but you can't judge others especially if you don't know nothing about them. Sorry if I offended you but I really did not like the way you post it in your first post. I will drop this now; anyway I got my package and looking forward to try my new coil. Good luck in your future hunts and HH. Mike

I was the first person to respond. I said it would show up.

have been buying a few things on ebay lately, and it seems like stuff is take 7-10 days. I actually paid extra for priority and it still took 4 days. the weather has been bad in different parts of the country, and when i sent a package out last week, the guy at the post office said they have been slammed because of weather, holiday backlogs/newyears flyers/etc and they have cut back on man power.

I sent some coins to a forum member last year. They got the card but the coins are gone. It was a nice flying eagle cent and ounce of silver that looked like a morgan dollar. The clerk asked if i wanted insurance and what was in the package. I said silver and she sat it to the side. I should have known better. I dont use that branch of the post office any more.

I have seen the way coin dealers send large amounts of coins in a box, they think that just because they put the coins in a plastic bag and stick it in a priority box that it is secure. I am a postal worker, and I admit there is a lot of low lifes working there, but I work in the section that deals with priority boxes and most people think that if they close a box with self sticking flaps that it is secure. Well it isn't they put nothing inside to keep the items from shifting and now with the new ad the post office has, if it fits, it ships, well I have seen people mailing actual weights from barbells through the mail, and my back hurts to prove it. The stuff shifts so bad that it pops out the end adn then we just try to put it together the best we can and send it to a rewrap section, manned by useless light duty people who wouldn't even attempt to lift anything that heavy and basically just send the items to claims where it probably sits until auctioned off. When me or a friend of mine sees a box busted open with coins, we fear going around it, because they tell you that it might be a set up from the postal inspectors and that they might have it on camera. So the good workers fear getting fired and the bad workers don't want to lift the stuff. Well the old rock and a hard place. I recomment to seal the box best that you can and run strapping tape around the box to make it so secure that it won't pop open... Sorry for the rant but we all aren't thieves as you think. We just fear being set up for removal, especially when you have over 30 years in and the people that they hire now are friends and family of the people in charge, and they are protected by their relative who are the higher ups...NEPOTISM...
