Hello everyone. This is my first post and first interesting find. I found a ring in the upstate of South Carolina. It has me stumped. I have asked around and asked google but have come up empty. Thought maybe someone might be able to date it or might recognize the design. Any help would be much appreciated.

All I can say is ...

If it's Gold it's obviously plated from what I see in the pictures ... how old is someone else's guess .... Woodstock

It does look like gold to me...old gold.
Those dark spots seem to be dirt in the little nooks and crannies but I don't see much evidence of plating from the improved pics but there is a bit on an edge and inside the area that a stone would sit but that could be the way you took the pic.
Could be back to the late 1800's to early 1900's but just a guess.
Can't tell from the designs either, but be sure to test it.
Really old gold could possibly be really high karat and the good parts look extra buttery to me..they used more 24k in the old days than they do now.

Great find!

I would take it into the sunlight and get some better pics...that would help.

I'm binge-watching The Oak Island History Channel series right now, so I'm sure that is influencing my interpretation...but that looks like the trillium symbol, a 3-petaled North American flower.

I found one very similar, same shape, the style of engraving and one diamond a few years back but it was marked 14K. Mine was from the 20's or 30,s.

I call for a test ...

Cause where the plating usually comes off on the inside and it is and by reviewing the first pic I can see the inside and part if the outside ring edge ... and I can see the Gold but I also see a different color base metal , Gold wouldn't change that much being buried .. it doesn't change colors and that's why people for all the ages have coveted it , but if think your right I can't change your opinion but it needs to be tested . I guess I must be weird cause if I find a ring like that or any ring I think might be gold (old or new) it would get a super cleaning before I posted pic's . IMHO . Woodstock
