Tumble Coins Without Gravel

Last year, I rolled a half full water container and I think it came out to almost $900. I also found three silver coins.

I use fish gravel, soap in tumbler.

Since I just started tumbling my three years worth of clad this interested me enough to do a little comparison. The only difference in these two pictures is the top coins are still wet so they're a little shinier. I think anyone would take most of these, or any machine for that matter...

The top batch just came out of the tumbler and had been in there since this morning, so about 8 hours without media.

The bottom batch was tumbled about 2 days with media. I can't tell much difference to be honest.

Soap and vinegar are not a good combination , vinegar is an acid and soap is a base......which neutralizes the acid , making it pointless to use vinegar. ;)

Whatever it does seems to work better than my trials with just Dawn, or with Dawn and a little ammonia, so go figure... ;)

Just saying , the vinegar is rendered inert by the soap once they are mixed. But if you can tell a difference then keep using what works ;)

Heres another alternative that all mega claddies do....

Just this very morning, I deposited a bunch of discolored and 'Coinstar kickout' clad into a Vending machine.....but instead of buying myself a soda, ($1.75) I simply depressed the 'refund' button, and out of the chute tumbles Nice Fresh
Clean Clad!!!! No 12% surcharge! No tumbling! No Amazon gift card! Ready to spend! ...Vending machines are not as sensitive as Coinstars...

You gotta find a few in the area, and use them to your advantage...let the vending machine guy worry about how to get rid of it, its just being a good steward is all!..It works! Theres even youtube vids depicting this very thing....:laughing:

Over the years, I've made numerous posts about this method...and it does indeed work quite well...until the disgruntled Vending Machine route runner starts putting YOUR dirty clad into the refund dispenser, passing along HIS problem to an unsuspecting purchaser...about August around here generally...:laughing:

Thought about this for a bit then tried a batch just using baking soda and water, no media. I figured if the vinegar isn't doing anything, and the Dawn isn't doing anything, maybe baking soda would just work fine. No logic to it, it's just what I had around the house to try next.

As it turns out it worked just fine...
