For years I've been jealous of all the street tears and street tear finds I've seen posted here, but I can FINALLY say I have my own right now. They must be working on my neighborhood in Chicago right now because I've found half a dozen all within walking distance.
Really exciting to have (semi-public) dirt at my access that is confirmed to be at least 100 years old. It's a real treat in a big city like Chicago where all too often everything is built up or hunted dry.
Yesterday I hit some and found three pretty great silvers (and a LOT of nails)
I found the coin and silver name tag in the tear. Love that crazy lettering on the tag! And I found the ring along side a church that I probably shouldn't have been digging by. Thanks Silver Gods...go bring me your Gold God friends now.
About a week earlier I hit another one and the work crew started to come back. I heard one of the guys yelling at me and got a little scared, but as he got closer, he was just telling me with a chuckle that he had already hunted it. He was very friendly about it and told me he found a few things but continued to let me go at it, and I found a 1882 indian head. Another first for me in Chicago.
Loving those sweet sweet street tears!
