silver from the curb...

I drive through Gary every now and then going and coming to work. Lots of spots to hunt...but I like living more. I know of a police officer who hunts in Gary...with his "POLICE" hat and jacket on. His badge showing....even his gun is in plain sight. Oh...and he's even there with his take-home cop-car and he still gets hassled by the fools...!

And then there's me...a nobody..no gun...no badge...no cop cruise....makes me "FRESH MEAT!" Even the early AM hunts before the fools get up...or home...I'm still uneasy about!

understood... fools are coming home from the bars about that time too, at least the police are occupied ;)

You inspire me

I like the term..Curb Pirate. It's hot today but I know a couple of streets in a nearby boro that has bigs trees and a nice wide strip to hunt. I just may do it. Better to be there at 2PM than 2AM, I would think. I'm stopping at lowes first though to get me one of those lime green vests..they'll think I'm with the boro maybe? LOL

Someone in here awhile back had a thread about going to Harbor Freight and buying one of those fluorescent yellow vests with the white reflective tape. I think that would be very good, perhaps with a white hard hat. Anyone looking out at you at 1 am (to see why their mutt is yapping), would think....oh its just one of those &^%$ city worker/utility type folks!

I like the idea of reflective tape on the Pin Pointer, and a reflective dot on the coil...maybe 4 so you could center it like a rifle scope!

I just bought off ebay for less than $5.00 shipping a led caplight that has both high & low white light and red light....should be very handy to save my night vision during night hunts or early wee hours of the morning before sunrise!

Was it this one?

Wait!... Chief say's you can't put that on your coil

that's metal, you magoo :)

A piece of red transparent plastic or cellophane will kill much of the light from the display, be readable and save your night vision.....

why wait till the middle of the night to hunt the curbs? I would think that if anyone did see you they would assume yor doing something wrong or not allowed. I hunt curbs in my town at daylight, no one ever bothers me one bit, and I have found a lot of silver that way

I'm just not there yet, maybe soon, depends. What I have is jet lag, taking the day off then I must go back and spend some serious time seeing if I can get the silver fever. Making some adjustments to the machine and the tools hoping it wasn't just a fluk and the streets really are lined with old silver

Nice bit of Kerb(curb) crawling:lol: You sure you were looking for silver:lol:

Oxford ENGLISH Dictionary.

Easily confused words
Do not confuse curb with kerb. Curb means ‘ control or limit something ’ (she promised to curb her temper) or ‘ a thing that controls or limits ’, whereas kerb means ‘ the stone edging of a pavement ’ (the spelling curb in this sense is American).

not the Curb, Kerb debate again

yea, I've had this confusion on other international forums :D Lets just say we American's Curb our streets (control or limit your Austin Healey from running over my lawn) and we don't Kerb anything.

I just can't be a "Kerb Pirate" lets pick another term for this kind of hunt or this will continue to define the mention of going sidewalk hunting for all time.

What is the actual discription of the strip of grass between the walk and the street called by US municipalities?
What do the Bobby's call it?
