Probably the worst home made tumbler but it works

I went to turn in my change at the bank , and after 3 drop offs of not one word, the old lady with a chip on her shoulder tells me my change is too icky and dirty.

So I made a home made tumbler with a drill , a old kids powder can , a bolt and washer and a drill and hose clamp.

2 chairs hold the drill upright , should holds the back of drill.
Hose clamp tightens to hold drill trigger
Bolt goes in back of can and drill spins with correct socket bit
Toy kiddie car provides wheels to spin , 2nd chair holds can back

Git er done ! ..
....a little ingenuity goes a long ways ! Can we see some after cleaning results> ? :D

All the clad has no dirt on it anymore and they are really smooth.

But I know I messed up on the cleaner , I didn't know what to put in it so I just did some oxy clean and a little bit of simply green with some fish rocks.

Need to find a better mixture

My hands smell great lol

Try just fish rocks and a little bit of Dawn. Should get the coins nice and shiny after a few hours.
-Works best for me in my tumbler. ;)

I think a HF 3lb tumbler is in my future lol

I have over 100 bucks in clad I need to dump and ghetto'd this up to clean them.

I will try some dawn next run

You get an A+ for imagination! : ) I have the HF tumbler and it's served me very well. I've tumbled over $700 and it's still going strong.

Hey, if it works

work it. It may not be pretty, but you know what they say. "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder"....:D

A while back I got a "discovery planet" kids rock tumbler for free on freecycle. I'm sure it's not nearly as well made as the HF one, but you can't beat the price.

I use aquarium rocks, a couple drops of Dawn, and run it for 2-3 hours.

What I did notice is the rocks and coins make a racket while they're tumbling. Because this one is a kids toy, it has a cover that encloses the moving parts so kids can't get their fingers caught while it's running. This means I can wrap the whole thing in blankets and towels and stuff it in a box to muffle the sound.

That's some idea!

Using a coffee can for a drum is a pretty decent idea.

Another motor that works well is a barbeque rotisserie unit (like those that come with cheap charcoal grills).

I'm thinking of doing something similar...only hooking it to the back of my son's bike...he loves riding up and down the driveway :)

I have a rotisserie that came with my grill and never used. Now I got a use for it!:D
