Price Rising

Personally, I think playing the pricing game for the bottom line at the expense of loyal users is bad MoJo.

I didn't keep track of Nokta's compensations, if any, to its loyal users but to drop the price after the loyal users have jumped in first and spent their money doesn't do much for their standing in my opinion. Did the first Legend purchasers get a free coil or headphones? If so, then Nokta did great. If all they did was to offer that stuff at a lower price, Bah

Minlab is doing what big companies do, look out after its stock holders. They can raise their price on the Manticore because people will pay it.

Do what I do. When the price gets too high for my liking, I don't buy it or buy another product. There have been many products that I have not purchased because the price got too high and I wasn't satisfied with the cheaper product so I reverted back to doing what I learned to do as a kid, it's called "Doing without". Just think when SHRINKFLATION hits the metal detecting community. All you'll have is a $10,000 pin pointer for a detector and a spoon to dig with

I also believe you get what you pay for. Most of the time anyway. I just don't feel a pinpointer is worth $140. It is kind of like cigarettes. I don't smoke anymore, quit 15 years ago, but I hear people are paying $6 or more a pack. Outrageous, but they charge that because people are willing to pay it. I owned the cheaper pinpointers. Some things you just can't skimp on.

I bought my Legend in March of 2022 for $399 with free shipping. Wireless headphones, stock 11" coil, etc.

Today that same package but with the newly designed stock coil, carbon fiber upper shaft and lighter weight arm cuff is $505.

Nokta offered original Legend buyers a limited time package deal with the new stock coil, carbon fiber upper shaft and new arm cuff for $152 so basically you paid for the coil but the shaft and arm cuff were free. I paid $139 for that package.

So I have an upgraded Legend with 2 coils, 2 upper shafts, and 2 arm cuffs (in case something breaks) that cost me $538.

I don't like paying $140 for a pinpointer either. I usually wait to see if the price comes down or if some slightly used or open box ones come up for sale.

You could do worse though.

Current prices from my research which may or may not be correct for the top of the line pinpointer sold in USA

Minelab Profind X40-VLF, no wireless pairing, waterproof, iron disc, no display, 9 volt $149

FTP F-Pulse/Tek-Point-Pulse Induction, no wireless pairing, waterproof, no iron disc, no display, 2AA $149

Garrett ProPointer AT Z-VLF, wireless pairing, waterproof, no iron disc, no display, 9 volt $145

Nokta Accupoint-VLF, wireless pairing, waterproof, iron disc, display screen, internal battery $139

XP Mi-6-VLF, wireless pairing, waterproof, no iron disc, no display, internal battery $149 to $119 (shop carefully)

Garrett ProPointer AT-VLF, no wireless pairing, waterproof, no iron disc, no display, 9 volt $128

Quest X Pointer Max-VLF, no wireless pairing, waterproof, iron disc, no display, internal battery $118

XP Mi-4-VLF, no wireless pairing, waterproof, no iron disc, no display, internal battery $89

XP has slashed their pinpointer prices (thanks to Nokta by the way) FTP as usual is clueless. Minelab is Minelab.

Manticore has had one software update since its release to address an ID stability problem, to add red ferrous numbers and it has had zero after release hardware upgrades provided by Minelab.

Well I guess you can hope and pray for a update for the manticore pass performance of updates from minelab CTX Nox and now the manticore are running exactly like usually one or two to fix issues update then crickets .
Now that $50 for Nokta was a deal for all the updates given . sube

I haven't smoked in over 10 years and they were $7 a pack back then here. The last time I paid any attention the cheapest I saw was almost $10 a pack and the most expensive were right at $16. I know it's even more in some places.

To beat rising prices It can pay off to keep your eyes open for open box deals, slightly used options, in order to get your detector for less than msrp. Even for new, some dealers offer a 10% discount if asked, particularly if a returning customer. Another thing to keep in mind is that some states don’t charge sales tax on mail order purchases. As for rising prices, it’s a shame that what free markets fixes, the government policies break.

I bought a Minelab Vanquish and an Equinox, both lightly used, from a brick and mortar store. Was able register each for the warranty.
Also bought an XP ORX there, again 2nd hand. Pinpointers too.

Great way to try different models.
