Hi all, I found the following in the Hudson River valley on popular hunting grounds that have been inhabited since the 18th century. I found many early 1900's shotgun headstamps but these 2 finds I am unable to date or identify. I thought maybe the buckle is older but I have no idea.:?: Any help is appreciated.

I didn't know much about relics of that nature but it looks like a suspender clip to me. Very ornate nice finds. Congratulations, I'm sure the knowledgeable folks will be along shortly.

Looks like half of a sash buckle on the left, try the group on Facebook called ID ME unless it’s identified on here first. I’m interested to know either way

Item on the left is a sash buckle half. Most likely for a cloth belt. The item on the right looks like a political ribbon hanger. They were made in the turn of the last century and a ribbon was hanged from the hanger.

I’d say the item on the left is a Victorian wax seal, as might be found on a watch fob or chatelaine.

Another 2 interesting finds from same place

Thank you all for the helpful feedback!

I will have to do some research on these to learn more about them. I am glad to hear this, which verifies the ground was used during this time and therefore is worth working over further and very methodically.

I went back the next day and found another couple of interesting finds. 1 appears to be an old button - maybe of the same 18th century time period? The other is a mystery to me, it has the weight of lead but a bright white color. The button is ~30mm diameter and the white/lead object is ~ 18mm diameter. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am very excited to have found some productive ground! No coins yet, but its only a matter of time!

Flat button is probably late 1700's into early 1800's.

Chunk of lead is a fired bullet that mushroomed upon impact.
Very easy to tell in second photo showing the copper jacket pealed back.
Copper jacket indicates a fairly modern bullet, 1900's.

thin metal portion appears to be steel

It does appear that way in the picture above, but the "pealed back" portion is thin metal, loots to be thin steel. It appears from this angle to be too thin to be copper jacketing::?:
