nuggetnoggin-beau chigger

We live in a free country (for now at least). I can choose any video I want to watch or not watch. I used to watch nuggett noggin, aqua chigger and reclic recoverists. But stopped after awhile because there was nothing new to learn.

Calabash digger's videos are informative because he will honestly compare machines. Brad's (green mountain) are always fun to watch because he makes the highest quality videos and the scenery is beautiful. Do I learn anything new with Brad's videos? Not really except if you hunt in very remote mountains with little human modern trash, you could use any decent mid range detector and do well.

Used to watch Ed the Beach hunter videos. there was quite a discussion on did he plant his finds. For a while I thought no he didn't. But then thought about his stats and compared him to other CA beach hunters and decided something odd was going on so don't watch him any more.

For me the best videos are ones that are clear, show the display and let you hear the sounds over various targets. If the person that does this is using the same detector you are using, then it is truly a good way to learn your sounds. Of course nothing substitutes for getting out and digging all your targets until your aural library in your brain is well stocked.

"The End Users and Forum Feedback are the Primary drop dead decider."

Agree 100%. But for me it took some time to decide which forum members on this and 2-3 other MD forums that I could really trust as being objective. After a while browsing these MD forums I figured out who I could trust as giving facts and not just their guesses. This became even more true upon reading these forums during and after the Equinox launch.

This is not to criticize anyone's opinion on the pro's and con's of any particular brand of metal detector. For 3 years when using the AT Pro, I was a biased about the AT Pro. Now after 2 years with the Equinox 800 I am biased about this detector for my type of hunting.

There is no best detector, there is a best detector for your type of hunting. We just have to sort through the forum information and make a decision. There is no other place to get such good data on which detector to buy than these forums.

Nugget: I've always appreciated his youthful enthusiasm. He works hard for some of his stuff (dredging, exploring, sifting, etc). He sells Garrett stuff via his site and I don't blame him for being pushing Garrett. He's a good guy.

Chigger: Another nice guy, but not as much a fan. I rarely view his whole videos. However, he sure finds a lot of stuff and is very knowledgeable it seems to me.

Hoovers: I don't understand how they find so much stuff - stuff I'll never find that seems mundane to them! I thought they (he) comes across as a little brash and loud but it's growing on me. His video intro is pretty cool. I wonder how many takes it took to get that bottlecap to hit the camera.

GreenMountain(?). I like the old stuff he finds. Beautiful country up there.
