I always struggle to put myself out there when looking for new permissions, but not long ago I saw a field near my house for sale. It just so happens to be in the historic district directly across from the original courthouse and jail which were built in the early 1700s. I called the landowner and he said “Sure, have it! But there’s been quite a few detectors over those grounds over the years.” Thankfully, I am not deterred by knowledge of previous detector activity, because it turned out that there was a home site on the property long ago that pre dated the civil war and which saw Union activity. Not only did I find modern coins missed by previous hunters, but I also have pulled quite a few buttons including a Union Dragoon coat button along with older coins such as a V nickel, a Seated Liberty Dime, a wiped Half dime sized silver, and a 1721 cut Spanish 2 Reales. This conveniently located permission turned into a holy grail site for me and I still can’t believe it!
