New Minelab Equinox

Thank you

Yes, there are acceptable variances to all electrical components and that fact that most manufacturers source ALL components in bulk from china, you are going to get variations.

I don't know exactly how much it translates to a CTX, but I remember there used to be a guy you could send your detector to and he would hook up the oscilloscope and begin making adjustments on the board until it was brought to its optimum level. Sometimes you got a tiny improvement, sometimes you got a BIG improvement.
Jason, thank you, I guess it make sense. I still consider myself new to the sport, started in mid-15. So how can you be sure if your machine is functioning at 100% ? Coming from an AT Pro to an Etrac since March last I've wondered on more than one occasion is it me,the site, or the machine, or all of the above. So out of the gate---not all are created equal gives me another variable to ponder. I will say I am at the point where I have confidence in my machine, but in the back of my mind I still sometimes wonder if the machine is doing all its supposed to do. Good luck and a speedy delivery on the Equinox.

I don't think it does any good to worry if your machine is as hot as it could possibly be. I think today's machines have better tolerances than 15-20 years ago. The E-Trac is a hell of a great machine as long as you can swing it, so if your finds are lacking then I would try new spots. If you ever come across another local hunter swinging an E-Trac then try to do a hunt together and do some signal comparisons.

Besides the 39 and 40 being associated with iron wrapping, there seems to be a lot of unassigned numbers (from zinc to dollar) which may tell me there looks to be a good possibility for much ambiguity and jumpy TID's.

I don't know.
We'll have to see how the detector actually performs/behaves.

A possibility, could a dime infact read lower of deeper or in higher minerlized soil, yet not read down to zinc penny range,,this could be a clue for higher conductive target.

I have not seen anything mentioned of up averaging for Equinox. And IMO this is a good thing.

I actually like what I see here. Looks like zincolns are as far away from copper with Equinox vs Etrac.

After I posted I remembered this machine is sold internationally? lol.

I'm kind of anxious, but the speculation makes me puke. Just want the public to be able to use it and report back.

You on the list, David?

Ok just saw your signature

I guess we have to see where tabs fall in id wise.

It does look like less area provided for mid conductors, but having a lot of room here not really necessary IMO. If a person is going to dig them they are going to dig them no matter what.

Maybe Etrac could ID 12 gauge shotguns shells with more odds on,vs Equinox.

Personally after using my etrac for a year I think a one number ID system would work just fine. I find alot of targets with the etrac that start out with say a 1 38 and then end up reading 12 38 the more you dig. That first number is not accurate at all, but the CO reading is the steady one. If the equinox is getting good depth I would say it is going to be direct competition for the etrac as well...

How many here have an Equinox IN HAND?????? Not many I bet. The slowww "Fishyness" has me torqued up a bit.

As far as anything being alike, study even just coil construction. You are talking about an object you can adjust by simply moving even a single wire. Therefore you never know if your coil is as hot as your buddy's coil, etc. Pretty interesting stuff.

The manufacturer likely to release formal announcement this Friday 2 Feb 2018.

Folks who have preordered via sponsors here, need to make sure your personal details are in order with your dealer.

I have conversed with sponsor here providing (verifying) my details, so I should be locked and loaded for Equinox 800 model.
