Never thought it'd happen to me...

did you check the channel where the window slides back and forth:?:

Window goes up/down and was not opened. It was a kitchen window and if the cat did knock it down, could be in the sink or if knocked on the floor could be under the oven/fridge/dishwasher, etc. I am not too sure of the guts on a garbage disposal. Would a ring fit through a disposall? Or does it have to be a ground item to prevent drain clogging?

manipulate the manipulator!!!!

Tell her the cat is going to have to be given away to the shelter, because it stole the ring, but if the ring shows up on the table before dad gets home, the cat can stay, and everyone gets to watch sponge bob tonight...

Okay, sooo I am sure you guys think our kiddo is probably this mean monster now. BUT.... lol she won't care if the cat goes away. She doesn't care for the kitten because he is a baby and doesn't stay with her or play with her. He's busy with HIS own stuff. We had a couple other cats that we fostered for a while she was over it within the day after giving them away.

She's more concerned about things dealing with herself. lol

Just so everyone is aware, she's a smart kid, but has her own little problems. Behavior and such is a problem and she recently had to see the DR. per the schools request as she's being more increasingly disruptive. So they want her on meds and behavioral therapy. I am hate to think she'd do this, but it's quite possible.

Update

So I get home and my fiances best friend is here at the house. She drove in to do dress shopping with my fiance today. I get home and I found out that her friend (who arrived just before my fiance discovered the ring was missing this morning) had just found the ring moments after they got back to the house this evening.

She (alone) said she was eyeballing our kitten playing with his mouse in my office. She went into the office and found the ring by where the kitten was playing with his mouse. Now... I am glad that it wasn't the 5 year old and she was telling the truth! No thunder was brought down, but it's ironic how our family friend happened to notice the cat playing, went into the room on her own and discovered the ring. Ironic.... Makes you wonder for a second... or two or three.

I still think it was the kitten, but damn it. Ugh... lol What a day!

Glad you found the ring. Little girl living next door thinks it's great fun to hide her Dad's car keys. Sometimes he has to take Mom's car to get to work.
When asked, the two girls just giggle hysterically and run away. They never tell. He has to find them.

Quote: "If she's punished she learns a little bit more. Our punishment has gone from spankings, comments about the spankings not hurting and blah. "

Hmmm, send her to my mother, I never said that or thought it.. She could get the truth out of her in about 60 seconds..
Edit: Never mind send the cat to my mom, it will come back very well behaved ..lol

Your wife needs a new best friend.

The cat has confessed... Lastnight he was trying to be all lovey on my fiance. I think he was trying to get her attention. He brings us his toys and puts them in shoes and stuff. So MAYBE him taking the ring was him trying to get attention. I dunno...

funny thing was i took the pinpointer to the kiddos stomach one day. it did a quick chirp and i rescanned... nothing. haha WRONG time to have a pinpointer falsing a signal.

She's a little smarter than that unfortunately. She'll ask where we found it or ask to see it

Waterboard her.

Or hide something favorite of hers. Every day.

Don't let her see you hiding her things, but do it at times when it leaves absolutely no doubt in her mind that it could only have disappeared at your hands. Don't say a word about it, but deny everything in exactly the same manner as she does if she asks.

If the ring magically reappears, then make her stuff magically reappear.

At NO time, while the ring is missing or after it reappears, ever ask her about the ring or talk about it in her presence.

She'll make the connection that when your stuff disappears, her stuff disappears. No words have to be spoken.

ADD:

Oops. I didn't read far enough to see that alexander mundy, your own personal cat burglar, got caught. :)

Hmmm....

Perhaps it might magically re-appear if due to it's loss your daughter is going to miss out on an activity (or activities) she really enjoys...???

I was thinking along the lines of a "Well, we were planning to go to the movies tomorrow, --- " (or the roller rink, or Zoo, or amusement park, or whatever would tickle her fancy the most) --- " but since we have to buy a new ring now, we can't afford to go, so we'll just be hanging out at home."

???

This trick works miracles in my house!! :D

Best of luck my 40 year old daughter use to grab cash her Mom's family left laying around and flush it down the toilet. She didn't care a one or a $20 or any other bill they left on a table at 1 and a half it got flushed. they got there once as a $10 or $20 went out of sight.
