Hello fellow detectors I'm going to start off by saying this is my first post so hopefully I don't mess anything thing up lol! But I was hoping somebody could help me with the date and other info of a Curtis Industries blank key I found today beside a sidewalk in the town I live in! I tried to research it myself but can't find much and I've only seen one picture of one exactly like mine! Mine has a octagon head and on the front of the head it says "Curtis Ind. Cleve,Ohio" and has a bulldog in the middle! On the back of the head it says "Made in U.S.A","Blank","No.Y131"! I have pics but I haven't took the time to find out how to post pics on here yet so if you'd like to see a pic feel free to send me a message and I'll happily send it to you!

Thanks in advance

Curtis Industries is (Or was) a Division of Curtis Noll Inc.

Curtis Industries was founded in 1932 by William Curtis and William Abrams in Eastlake, Ohio when they developed a new Key cutting machine. They went into business as Curtis Key Company and Curtis Keys.

They manufactured fasteners, keys, and even went into aftermarket automotive parts business in the 1970's.

Curtis Keys went public in the 1960's, they had changed their name to Curtis Industries between 1945 and 46 (Or so). They made no keys during the War having other War Department Contracts. William Morris, one of the partners and major stock holders, passed away and his family sold their stock to Ohio Forge and Machine Corp in 1964.

There was a falling out between Ohio Forge and the other owners of Curtis.

In 1964 Ohio Forge absorbed Curtis Industries and under their new president Sanford B. Noll became the Curtis-Noll Corporation.

Since your key blank (Curtis specialized in Key blanks not keys) says Curtis Industries. Your key dates from sometime between 1945 and 1964.

Curtis-Noll is still in business. Bet Curtis-Noll can tell you what kind of blank it is.

Change on that: Curtis-Noll went offshore in 1966 and filed with SEC as a foreign entity. Apparently they no longer exist either since they have no Officers and their SEC filing in California is listed as inactive.

Involuntarily dissolved by the Mass. SOC, State of California and some other States in 1982 after several years of inactivity after their '76 filing.

Probably too much info on a key blank.

@Detector Nut thanks I'm really glad to be here!!!!:D

@SeniorNCO It's definitely not to much info, you can never put to much information when sharing knowledge in my opinion! You told me pretty much exactly what I was hoping to find out plus so extra neat info so for this I thank you!!!!
