I've been hunting with my Vaquaro for about a year now and after ground balancing then hunting a while it starts to chatter quite a bit. Is this common? I'm in Tennessee and I know the soil is highly mineralized but should I ground balance more often or is this just due to the mineralization in the soil. I'm digging coins up to six inches deep but at the same time I'm digging pull tabs and aluminum scrap at eight to ten inches deep. Am I doing something wrong?

Do you do any regualar cleaning and or maintenance on your vaquero? I'm especially concerned about the coil cable connector. If that comes lose any, you may experience some excessive chatter...But I really don't have the experience to say for sure....I'm just thinking out loud....

I can tell you I found the people at Tesoro to be very helpful and I recommend you call them too...

I see two things in your post that catch my eye...

1)"chatter quite a bit" Could be EMI Electromagnetic interference

2)"pull tabs and aluminum scrap at eight to ten inches deep"
Surely Filled in ground

By the way Tesoro's service Dept is great if needed.

Does it help if you turn the sensitivity down.

YES! I believe it was just a sensitivity issue. Well that and maybe a bit of mineralization as well. Thanks for the input everyone.
I'm still finding new ways to set up my Vaquaro for various ground types. Shes working fine now so if the rain ever ceases I'll be out hunting again.

82 miles south

I live just 82 miles south of you and hunt with a Vaquero. We came to Turkey Creek today and ate at Sam and Andy's on Kingston Pike . Cut your gain/ sensitivity back until it stops.
