Way to go there Chris! Thats a beauty alright! Yeah...snow is falling here finally, the dirt is sort of frozen but diggable...Hunting over Snow is actually very interesting and nice....especially over a large field over a skiff of snow about 3-5" deep....Like an entire sports field..or a schoolyard or totter you have never been to... things like this...for me its a scouting outing.. more than a harvest attempt especially when things get locked up tight...a guy can scout....
A guy can 'skate' the coil sliding it on top of the snow in big broad arcs, a guy can see where he has been and hasnt...It helps a guy see how well he is overlapping for coverage, and this practice translates over into the Summer via muscle memory.........a guy can reach down and eat a handful of snow when he gets thirsty, a guy can see their own tracks, a guy will never get overheated or bothered by bugs or people or events going on..etc....
Lets say the dirt is so frozen a guy cant dig...well, at least a guy is hearing whats down in there and can make a mental note of the location, finding the travel zones and the dead areas and come back in the Spring!....Evaluating an area as to its ROI potential... even not digging a thing!...This is very helpful when the dirt thaws, a guy can focus and hit the hot spots where you already LOCATED the signals in the Winter!...
..
This is indeed a Year Round Sport if a fellow wants it to be!...no need to hang the gear up at all.....Bag that coil and get to prospecting over the snow!....Then, a guy can really focus up and make pay when the dirt thaws!
One things for sure...hunting snow you GOTTA bag the coil! If you dont, you get maybe a dozen sweeps and then you are swinging an 15lb iced up brick on a stick!...
