Very relevant. It just shows none of the machines are without problems. Thanks for a 3 year warranty..

So Minelab gets a pass because other manufacturers have flaws in their detectors? Very interesting. I didn't know that. Does it work for other products? Vehicles? How about doctors? If one makes a mistake big deal....they all make mistakes. Not much of an excuse in my opinion. Weak....Very weak.
Nothing said about getting "a pass". They have sold a shi_load of the Equinox detectors and still continue to sell them. And yes, mistakes are made in the medical field everyday hence malpractice insurance. Minelab calls it a warranty and you wont die from a flaw in a detector.
What do you call a guy or gal that graduates from medical school with a 4.0+ GPA? Doctor
What do you call a guy or gal that struggles and barely graduates from medical school ?

And yet the shaft of the Minelab Equinox is still junk. But hey the AT Pro launched with a coil problem. I get it now. Sorry...Sometimes it takes a while. I sure hope the Vanquish uses the same design. Sorry Minelab for wanting better.
And when that coil ear snaps off from the force of a wave, and I'm a mile down the beach from my car that was used for 90 minutes to get me to the beach I know now it is ok. I got a warranty. No problem. Thicker coil ears? I sure hope they don't use them on the next detector. After all....Nokta had problems like that. Sorry again for wanting better. That 1/4 inch thickness addition would probably add what.... 3 bucks to the price?
I hope it’s FBS based! Something with all the features of the CTX but lighter and with a selectable single frequency turbo mode! I’d be all over it!

Ok, ok, we get it. Quit beating the dead horse already. If you still own a nox you should definitely sell it, you dont need that kind of negativity in your life. If youre a beach hunter, maybe you should have purchased a dedicated beach machine that can take the beating of the ocean environment, insead of an all terrain machine.
I happen to have one of the earlier release nox's with a slight wobble. Instead of complaining about it, i fixed it and moved on. It took a 2" piece of tape to resolve. Could I have sent it in for repair/replacement, sure. Should it have been released that way, no. Is it their fault that one of their subcontractors produced a certain number of rods slightly out of spec? Maybe. However, it is their fault for sketchy quality control and not catching it sooner. To their credit, the ML warranty is painless and very quick.
Ive smacked my coil against many a rock and tree and havent snapped an ear yet. The machine has fallen off the tailgate of my truck onto asphalt, ive dropped it on a concrete sidewalk, etc and havent broken anything yet. My point is, its not fair to bash ML because the machine isnt living up to YOUR quality standards. Consider the amount of resistance that 11" coil is subject to as it swung underwater. Its tremendous. If your going to use an all terrain machine for primarily water hunting you are going to wear it out much much faster and any wobble is going to get worse in a hurry and your going to be unhappy (seems you are already there).
The point myself and others are trying to make is that there are plenty of machines out there with minor issues that were discovered after release. That doesnt make them worthless by any means. All of the wobble issues Ive heard of have been addressed by ML through warranty and seem to be resolved on newer revisions. Sure, I hope ML has learned from its mistakes with prior machines and implemented them on the Vanquish/Victory. The reality is that it wont appease everyone and it will have its own issues (weight, balance, material stength, etc) because the handful of testers wont be able to uncover them all before production.
Sell my detector? It is in the closet. Has been for a month. Hunting is out. Maybe I should sell it.
Wait...hunting is out because of a broken coil ear? So why not get the coil replaced under the warranty?
No hunting is out because of health problems. The detector is fine including a third party shaft. It is a fine detector. I like it very much for my style of hunting. Maybe this new vanquish will be better yet. The point of my posts? Give the company honest feedback in your posts and don't make excuses for them. When I was 12 about 45 years ago I received my first detector. It was a very heavy Whites blue box detector. Here we are close to a half century later and weight is still brought up as a concern. With current technology and the tens of thousands of posts on the subject one would think weight and balance would be a no brainer to any release. The day of the BS reviews in detecting magazines is over. Tell the truth and demand better. We deserve it. And more to the point.....they can do it.
I disagree completely. I have owned several detectors with bad build quality and the equinox is not one of them. My at pro had several issues. The control module literally fell off the shaft due to normal use. The only issue I have had with equinox after several hundred hours of use is a slight shaft wobble that was barely noticeable. I use my equinox rain and shine and it stays in the back of my car most the time bouncing down the road with no issues. Only time I take it out is in the high heat of the summer.Like Goodmore, I hope it has MUCH better build quality than the Equinox.
The build quality was enough to dissuade some from buying it.
Regardless of whether you like the machine, you can't deny that glaring weakness.

I hope this is true. My wallet cannot take another high end minelab release right now lol. This new detector might be a Go-FIND replacement. I am not getting my hopes up yet that it is going to be a top-of-the-line detector.
