I wonder the same about keys and also about jewelry -- and junk jewelry I find at playgrounds and schools too. I can only imagine how upset some little girl was to lose an otherwise worthless trinket that was priceless to her.

Maybe I've got a pessimistic streak.
When Patti dug a large cent, a matron head/coronet, I wondered to myself the same thoughts...... Did some kid get sent to the store to buy a bunch of stuff with that cent, and get his butt whooped when he came home with nothing? LOL. I guess it's part of the fascination with the hobby. Wondering what the found object's story is, how it got there, when, etc........
A find that makes a "great day" for us, often meant a very bad day for someone else.
