LET'S HAVE AN ECLIPSE CONTEST

Yup, I'm not going to stand around and watch some silly eclipse! Hoping to find something good during it, so I can shoot a video of the find!

After, hopefully... not during. My wife went to the food store up toward the beach and said people are acting nutty already. She said some woman was rambling about the apocalypse. Just add alcohol today and what could possibly go wrong?

Thanks, but no thanks... going out to chase the lawnmower...

It was so semi anticlimactic, let's see, birds stopped chirping, dogs hiding, loads of peeps with glasses on looking upwards. Maybe the next one in Michigan in 2099, I will wait to see that one. I'll be 141 years old. Going to be great!

Well the eclipse was a pretty big deal here. We were inside the path of totality. The weather was perfect. I found it pretty mind blowing to watch myself. Just think of how our ancestors reacted when all of a sudden it starts getting dark in the middle of the day and the sun is blotted out by the moon without knowing it was about to happen. The temps started dropping slowly as it got darker. When the corona appeared it was quite a stunning thing to witness. It only lasted a little over a couple of minutes where I live. I am very glad I got to see it. Believe me when I say it's a very different feeling viewing it for real vs. a video.

Okay, here's my best find today around the time of the start of the eclipse here in Rhode Island. It's a 3 1/4 lb. blacksmith hammer head. Could be antique, but I won't know until I clean it up. I think I see numbers or a brand name on it, but not positive. I'll hit it with a wire wheel tomorrow or maybe do some electrolysis on it and see how it turns out.

I haven't been detecting since 4/29. Lot going on. I didn't look at the sun today for our 30% of a solar eclipse viewable here, because I didn't want to turn into a zombie. I don't like the taste of brains.

I saw a guy pull out a couple of nice rainbow trout right before the eclipse. I was at my parents grave in Mass near a pond

Though I was not hunting at it's peak, I was able to get out for a couple hours after lunch on Monday. My first silver for the year and also first gold in 2 years. Not too shabby, wish these eclipses would happen more often
