I took advantage of the negative low tides recently and it paid off. Found a couple of new spots. Quite a bit of stuff from the 1800s. The belt buckle with the dog on it is from 1881. The Inkwell is dated 1891. These are the first stoneware bottles I have ever found. There is a makers mark stamped into the side of the bottles. If anybody can ID it, please let me know. Enjoy the pics.

Can somebody please refresh my memory as to how I can post more than 10 photos. Thank you..

Here you go.

And finally, the Carter’s inkwell is dated 1891. The stoneware bottles have the word ‘PRICE’ stamped in them. And on one of them it looks like there might be a number ‘5’ below the word price. It could possibly be a makers mark also. The brass belt buckle is made by Winchester, from 1881.

Nice pics, thank you! You have a huge date range with your finds, the ring top beers are 1870s to perhaps 1880, the cone ink ca 1890, Omega Oil and Herbine look handblown so ca 1900, the newest are your square clear milk bottles, and a few others like the syrup and amber bottle in same pic. The crown top (bottle cap) was patented in 1892 but did not gain acceptance till late 1890-1900s so those beers date from the 1900-1910 range. Glad you enjoyed finding these!

So, you’re saying that the clay bottles had bottle caps?

That is some location you have there to hunt bottles. How do you find bottles in the ocean? Snorkel or scuba or just wading and looking?

It’s not the ocean, it’s a brackish water tidal ‘ river‘. It is 2 to 3 miles wide, runs for over 100 miles and is about 4 feet deep on average. That’s all I can tell you. The rest is trade secrets.😉

Hey, I don't blame you for keeping those to yourself. In Atlanta bottle dumps around old farms more often than not, prove more valuable than any old coins you might find. Of course Civil War relic can be valuable if they are CSA, US buckles or pistols. Several years a go a guy found a CW pistol when digging out a new flower bed.
