I'm at a loss which detector I should buy

XP detectors are worth a look. Very light and fast. The control isn't fully waterproof but there are armband kits and such that make it so. Fully wireless also.

FYI those British guys on YouTube pit the Simplex against the Nox800 with interesting results. I'll try to find the link for you.

By the way, maybe check.out Nokta Anfibio Multi? The Simplex's much more capable big brother in the $700-$800 range.

That was an interesting video............interesting in how differently they had their detectors setup which they never told us, by the way. They seemed to be very unfamiliar with the Simplex. "I just turned it on and ground balanced it........"

Equinox 600 was in Field 1, 5 tones, with iron rejected, cranked up sensitivity and the person that used it at least on camera never used the horseshoe button to check for iron........

Simplex was in Field mode with all targets accepted, 2 tones (ferrous/non-ferrous) which has blending of the iron and non-ferrous tones and VCO audio which makes the target sound louder and higher pitched the closer it is to the coil.

Two very different setups. Either put the Equinox in Field 1 with nothing rejected and 2 tones to make it more of the same to the Simplex OR put the Simplex in Park 1, 3 separate tones (iron, mid tone, high tone which do not have VCO audio) and reject Iron or not.

Good video quality, bad comparison due to unfamiliarity with the detector and major differences in setup.

Both detectors would have done better if these two guys new how to use them at even an intermediate level. "Silver, Silver" after the Equinox operator says the target ID is 16 and it obviously had a mid conductor tone. Turned out to be a fairly deep Vicky on edge............ Silver at the same depth and roughly the same size would have been at least in the high 20s to low 30s in that dirt with a screaming high tone.

Why do people make videos that just make them look kind of ....................?:?:
