If you only could have one metal detector what would it be?

I would say the Etrac would be my one and only. However, the Nox 800 is finding me stuff I missed in areas I've pounded with all of my other detectors. If the Nox gave ID information like the Etrac or CTX then it would be my #1.

You know I have often wondered IF the Equinox gave really good ID's would we miss stuff :?: but since it is "close enough" and gets you wondering.. perhaps we dig more therefore find things others have missed. maybe that is the beauty of the machine after all

I love my Minelab Safari. I beach and land hunt. It's a good deep machine. The ctx or nox wold be cool since it's waterproof. The summer months in Savannah and Tybee area have random rainstorms out of nowhere. It really sucks to be out when the rain comes pouring down and I don't trust my rain dust cover to protect it. So I usually haul butt to shelter than the rain stops as soon as I get there. That's where I would prefer a waterproof machine over mine. I'm going to hold off for a while see how the nox does. Might get that down the road primarily for its waterproof.

Exactly why i said Etrac, i just didnt know if i was allowed to elaborate. But it would be nox except for the compact ID range ,, to tight at the nickel slot. It would be CTX but for how cheap the etrac is now used and the massive coil selection ,,, it is why i would have to choose it. just so much more information to be had with fbs. IF they put ferrous and non ferrous numbers on the Nox and expand the ID.... hands down the nox.

The best machine I have ever used up to this point is the Minelab Explorer XS. However, I am hoping I can soon say the Anfibio Multi is the best I have owned, as I just bought one, but do not have it yet. I really struggled between the Equinox 800 or the Anfibio. I went with the Anfibio because of the following reasons: I am kind of rough on things and it sounded like the Anfibio was better built/sturdier. I was very impressed with all the videos I watched, especially the depth it was getting. I liked the much wider ID scale on the Anfibio. Anfibio has more coil selection at a cheaper price.
And, I got a great deal on the Anfibio. I think I would have been happy with either machine. Can't wait to start swinging my new toy.

If I HAD to own only one it'd have to be my Multi Kruzer with a 7" concentric. It's virtually weightless, not much gets by it, and that little coil is remarkably deep. That being said there are many machines which I haven't had the chance to try, including a Nox.

Probably the Equinox because of salt water hunting. A true waterproof Sovereign never made it to market. The CTX was over weight, overkill for the salt water hunter and over priced for everyone.

Vaquero with the 11x 8 RSD DD coil. Old school beep and dig. Deep fast and dependable. Best of all it does not ID deep targets as iron like a lot of the high dollar digital machines do.

Whites V3I. No other machine can pinpoint like it does. The dominant frequency in pinpoint mode tells me with accuracy the composition of the target. No other detector does that.

That's what i believe. Mine gave me so many tones and numbers I never knew if it was good or not. So I'd dig more. Most beep n dig guys I know say vdi detectors talk them out of digging.
I still like my olf Extera 705, it does it all well except go under water. I own a boat to stay above water so no worries.

Xp deus, lightweight, compact, truly wireless, deep as you can make it and awesome in trash and iron. You will never find me I deep water, yes I have dabbled in small streams but if I pull the remote and hunt with the headphone module in my pocket sealed in plastic I am waterproof as I need to be. The 5 year warranty is appealing also but I have had few issues with the deus, the MI6 is a different story. If I could have only one pointer it would be a carrot.

Having said this, I have not swung a nox but I currently speak deus and learning a new language is not appealing. Besides, if I bought a nox I would surely go 800 but so far I have not seen the value over the deus for my style of hunting. I have found fabulous things with the deus and still do.

Ctx 3030 - waterproof, has got GPS which is cool, backlight for in the dark, battery life is reasonable, well balanced, goes deep, can customise your own tones etc. Probably could do most, if not all functions, on another detector, but I'm familiar with the ctx and would choose it all day long :)

Tough decision. If I was restricted to ONLY Coin & Jewelry Hunting or to ONLY Relic Hunting I'd select a favorite model for those applications. But for all the different types of sites I hunt, it is the Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi with 7" Concentric mounted for day-to-day use, and a 5" DD and standard 11" DD for other site needs.

Naturally, that is IF I was limited to only one detector for everything I do, which is land hunt. Now, if you asked everyone to select ONE detector that did NOT have visual TID or more than 1 or 2-tones, that would be a more interesting question. If everyone was forced to do that, many would simply find a different hobby because so many have never owned or used such a device. For me, no problem there, either. It would be the Tesoro Bandido II microMAX.

Fortunately, I own 8 different makes and models that can complement each other and all provide me terrific in-the-field performance and results.

If I could only choose one to keep I would choose the CTX 3030. It just covers all bases. Best deep old coin hunter, waterproof, does a good job even in thick iron, can be used at the beach in and out of the water. All around phenomenal machine.
