I know where a Gold/Pearl/small diamond ring is....

I also gave him some maps to my old school that closed in the mid 70's. It stands to reason that most quarters or dimes that we carried in lunch money would have been silver coins! So, he also has a chance to find some old coins.

I sent him 6 maps, so he should have a few places to try since he's travelling about 3 hours to get there. I figured if he found the ring immediately and the area wasn't producing anything else that he would have a couple other places to hit as well.

The digging in Indiana is a dream. I could plant a garden with a soup spoon, the dirt is that good! Here, you need a backhoe, jackhammer, pick, and 3 immigrant workers while you hold lean on the shovel!

Haha tbe digging is easy here! I cant wait i imagine myself as the dirt pirate after the long lost booty!!hoping to have lots of good finds to show all the great people on the forum!!!

Wow 3 hours!! :wow: I sure hope he finds it.

Let's all pitch in and have a pizza delivered mid-hunt.

Shoot....ISU grad right here and in need of a road trip!

Hunter John's Pizza former worker while at school!

Born in South Bend....

Nice! It's a small world. I miss home, but not much to return to there really. THe politics haven't changed much, jobs situation is about the same, and the opportunites there are few. (In THAT town)

I'll always love home though. The fall in Indiana has always been my favorite!!!

My grilfriends dad was an atheletic trainer, eventually Dr, and we wnt to all of the university games in football and basketball. That was a nice perk:yes:

Cool write up. Hope he finds the treasure and reports plenty of bounty found... Good luck to all the hunters for a great day on Sunday.

Tomorrow is the big day, I will be thinking about this all day. I hope & pray that he finds it so he can prove I'm not fulla bs:lol: Him finding that ring will be as exciting as if I found it.

I want to see it again, I want to see him smiling while holding it. I want to be part of the happy ending lost treasure story, and I want to make a new friend by leading him to gold

Ummmm excuse me OZARKS, but I think you already made the new friend whether or not he finds the ring. You gave him an opportunity he might not otherwise had.:D:D

Are ya up yet Supra???? Today is the big day and we're all waiting with much anticipation:lol::lol::lol:

Well hey forum members! Today was the big day.....what a beuatiful and exciting place to hunt and what a gracious guy Ozarks is to let me in on the site! The map was easy to read and found right where the x marks the spot was from the map i was sent. I pulled 114 pull taps in 2 hours and 2 memorial pennies......hate to let you all down but no ring! Talked to two other metal detectorist who oddly enough where panning for gold that have frequuented the area for about the last 5 years. They have found no ring on the site....i guess it could still be there! Not in the area i searched!! Did find some clad and had a blast with my dad, took him along for some father son time. The site and history of the place was amazing, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the day hunting! Instead of posting pics of clad and trash, ill clean up the old button i found and post it ! Ozarks, thanks again man i had a great time! When you decide to go back, let me know ill meet ya there!! Thanx again

Keeping my fingers crossed he finds the ring. I will be following this thread to see how it turns out.

I am glad that you got to spend a day with dad dreaming of a lost treasure. I hope that those memories will last you both a lifetime. It sounds like you enjoyed yourself even though you didn't find the ring.

I'm sorry you didn't find it though. You were so excited which made me excited, and I really wanted you to find it and have it. I knew after all this time that there was a chance that it wasn't there anymore, but I was hoping against hope that you would find it.

I enjoyed talking with you on the phone and your excitement was contagious. :D Hopefully one day I can come hunt with you somewhere and we get to meet. As I said before I am sorry that you didn't find it. That would have been such a great story to tell our kids. All I can say is that we tried bro. I hope that you know in your heart that I didn't send you on a wild goose chase.

If it were me, after about 50 tabs, I would have discriminated them out. I know that you wanted to dig it all and not disc out gold, but I would have gotten tired of nothing but trash after a 3 hour trip down there.

I hope that you enjoyed the day there, I spent many days as a kid there, and I always felt the history around me while I was there. It sounds like you found the natives friendly, and that makes me happy too.

Thank you for being so gracious after not finding the ring. I am delighted that you were able to see the good in the rest of the day, and most of all the father son time. Those memories will be worth more than that little ring was, so I guess at the end of the day all was not lost.

Anyway, I wrote a book, but I want to say thank you for attempting to locate my long lost ring. Maybe one day we can meet up either there or somewhere else and try out our luck together.

Keep in touch bro, I'll probably give you a call from time to time because I enjoy talking with people who enjoy the hobby as much as I do.

Again, thanks for trying. I hope dad enjoyed the day as much as it sounds like you did.

O:D

Cool that you had a great time. I think a bunch of us were excited for you. I know I was. I had hopes for you to find it.

Thanks everybody......hope i didnt let you all down!! Anyone in the fort wayne area let me know im always up for another treasure hunt!!

Anyone in the area that wants a chance at a ring, I can send you the maps too. There is still a chance the ring is there...

And Supra, you didn't let us down. You tried, who can ask any more than that?

I don't think anyone here has been let down in the least. We were rootin for ya both. Just as I anticipated a bond was made between a Father and a Son, and 2 Strangers now friends...now that's worth much more than a ring ever could be. O and Supra, you're both cool dudes. I hope your new found friendship lasts a lifetime!!!:D

All The Best,
Gemmy
