I am lost.

Gotta push the pinpointer purchace. I have the top of the line Whites detector, no brag, just an example. You have to realize that by just having the better detector and not the PPr(Garretts all the way), you will be so handicapped during digs you may just say "Enough" and put the detector in the closet. What I am saying is that lots of dug targets are ultra slippery to locate many times after chosing the basic location to dig, when just using the detector coil and hand wave itself. Targets camaflauge so well after being in the dirt that it makes detecting more than an unreasonable pita if you don't have a pin pointer. I used to quit in the beginning and refill the hole. I went back once I got my PPr and, damned! there was the coin, all in about 2 minutes.

The one thing, IMO that you will keep is the good pinpointer, don't go cheap. Almost all new owners of detectors decide to upgrade detectors very quickly, but a Pro Pointer always stays in the quiver once owned. jm2c. martin

I understand you are trying to help somebody , but in reality , the detector is the important part of the equation. You dont even "really" need a pinpointer necessarily , many dont even use them myself included , but you do need a good detector. Its only logical to put as much as possible toward the detector , and then get a pinpointer later if you feel the need for one. Not many people get frustrated at first and give up just because they didnt get a pinpointer , I havent heard of any. And I am not handicapped at all without a pinpointer except on rare occasions.

Im not saying a person shouldnt get a pinpointer , just that they would be farther ahead getting the best detector they can afford and not scrimping on the detector just so they can get a pinpointer too. Makes more sense to get a good machine first.

I have to start reading better I guess. At least someone is paying attention. thanks.

Totally agree with this. Until I'm officially retired I don't have the time to pick through the dirt for a single target.

Locate-dig-pinpoint-collect and move on to the next target in no time flat.

Got the Ace 350 today.

Got the Ace 350 today. The only problem is that I had hernia surgury yesterday and it will be a while till I can leave the house. But, at least I have it in my hands. I can pick it up and wave it around the house, and it shows me where the nails in the floor are. :) Can't wait to heal up and go out and use it!

Hang in there PlutoBlue, congrats on your machine and good luck to ya.

I just came across this thread and although I saw the humor in Gantlet's response to you, I actually giggled out loud and my wife looked over at me like whats so funny, I can also understand how that could be offensive to someone new here. Sounded like a daddy chewing out his son or something to me, if that had been my first experience on here, I would have thought what the ....
Then I got to Diggers response and when he ask for your shoe size and the uniform thing I got to laughing so hard I had to put down my laptop and go get a drink. My wife said, You have got to let me see what you are laughing so hard about, Digger was messing with you and absolutely hilarious, I had tears in my eyes.
Conclusion: There are very many helpful people on here and very friendly, but like any family, and this is sort of like a family of like minded people, some times they mess with ya. Glad to see you still around myself.

Happy Hunting

Hey, don't rush yourself, you want to be healed before you get out there and start swinging. Hope you're out and about soon, though.

Dirtydog, this is an old post so I suspect, having only posted one comment so far, that you are researching past posts for some reason. I hope you see that EVERYONE on this site will help anyone out. But sometimes a post is taken the wrong way for whatever reason, a bad day or something or someone is just very sensitive. We have a lot of fun here and joke around a lot too. BUT, when someone needs some help there is always someone to help them. You have to remember some questions get asked over and over again and a LOT of these folks keep answering over and over again anyway because we were all new once.
