I have quite a few areas where there are civil war relics in North Atlanta. Unfortunately most are now occupied by private expensive homes whose owner's rarely give permissions. But laced through these areas that I can hunt are small creeks and branches. No one has ever bothered me when hunting those small creeks.
I have only hunted them 2-3 times with my 800 about 2years ago. It was pretty good at finding tin cans. Now I have an XP2 and feel pretty good with my ability to use it properly.
I have choices to make on where on the creek I should hunt. I am asking others where is the best place in a creek area to hunt for CW relics.
I am pretty sure the answer is going to be everywhere if the creek is in a proven Civil War relics area, which these creeks are.
I am thinking you hunt the upper top of the creek banks, sidewalls of the creek and in the creek. I will be using some notches to get rid of the obvious aluminum since I will not be looking for rings. Mainly, 3 ringers, box plates, and US or CSA belt buckles (fat chance, but not impossible).
Any advice will be most appreciated.
