I just bought the Harbor Freight 103 pc. "Fast and Easy" (lol) Grommet Installation Kit. (Item 30037)
I find it FAR from "fast and easy". Does anyone else here have any experience with them?
I can't get the grommet to roll over without tearing and looking like garbage. It wasn't expensive,
so I knew that it might not work out too well, but there are some reviews on their website from
people that say they work great and look perfect. I'm afraid I'm going to cut my hand on them!
What is the secret??

I was going to put a grommet in the dropcloth I use, and several in a toolbelt I just got, but so far,
it looks like it ain't gonna work.
:(

Anyone here use grommet tools?

that tarp clip is a great idea!

as for the actual grommets, i had some turn out like yours' too. instead of smacking them together with a hammer, try squeezing them together with steady pressure in a vise.

That sounds like it might work... I'll try that next. Thanks!

For your drop cloth I highly recommend using this...

Just fold the corner and clip it..

No metal, so you can still scan it with your coil, and it weighs one corner down on windy days.

Good luck!!

I like that. That will work out well for the dropcloth. Thank you!

However, I still have the issue of the toolbelt. It's just a straight-out belt with no holes and a quick-clip as a buckle.

I want to put several grommets around it for hanging 'not for climbing' carabiners for things
like my brass probe, that tarp clip, my flashlight, and some other stuff.

I think it might be the grommets themselves. They are brass plated steel. I can probably get better
quality grommets and it might work with these tools.

Tandy Leather carries Brass grommets and eyelets

or at least I think they still do. They also sell the tools to install them.
